Wes Brown didn't want to see Scott McTominay leave Old Trafford.
McTominay transferred to Serie A side Napoli at the end of last month after eight seasons with Manchester United and over a decade more in the club's youth system. The Scotland international joined other high-profile players like Anthony Martial, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Donny van de Beek in leaving the club this summer after United brought in several new names during the transfer window, and Brown feels McTominay is the biggest loss of them all.
"I'm gutted that Scott McTominay has left Manchester United, but he wants to play football and the club may have told him that won't play as much now because of the signings they’ve made," Brown told BoyleSports, who offer the latest Premier League odds.
"I wish him all the best because in every game he played for United he gave everything, but he wasn’t necessarily in the manager's plans and that can happen in football.
"But he saved United a fair few times and scored some great goals. He's a player you don’t like seeing leave but he will want to progress elsewhere and I hope it all goes well at Napoli.
"It’s going to be very different for him and I thought he could still have a role at Old Trafford but that’s what happens in football sometimes."
