To no one's surprise, Chelsea have been among the most active teams so far in the transfer window.
The Blues have already signed several players and are rumoured to be on the lookout for another goalkeeper. The London club currently has seven keepers on the books, with Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic having split most of the goalkeeping duties last season. Additionally, Kepa Arrizabalaga has made over 100 appearances for the club and is still under contract with Chelsea after spending last season on loan at Real Madrid.
The situation has caused former Chelsea defender William Gallas to speak out against the club's recruitment team, as he believes they have lost their focus on more pressing needs within the squad.
"Hold on, hold on. You’re telling me that Chelsea want to strengthen their squad with another goalkeeper to provide competition for Robert Sanchez, so that means they don’t think what they have in the club is good enough," Gallas told Gambling Zone.
"That must mean that they don’t rate Djordje Petrovic or Kepa. If that is true, then Chelsea’s recruitment team has failed. They are the ones that aren’t good enough after spending a lot of money on Sanchez and Petrovic in the last 12 months.
"How many goalkeepers do these guys want to bring in? The recruitment has not been good enough. Think about bringing in an experienced centre back. Think about bringing in a world-class striker. Stop talking about goalkeepers."
