Group G at the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup features Sweden, Italy, Argentina and South Africa.
The Swedes are the runaway favourites to win the group. Ranked third in the world, Sweden are coming off a third place finish at the 2019 WWC and a silver medal at Tokyo 2020, so the team will be aiming high at this tournament as well.
However, their recent results have shown cracks in the armour, with just one win since November. The Swedes are winless in three matches heading into the World Cup, and will need to ramp up the intensity if they are to fulfill their massive potential.
If Sweden take first place in Group G as expected, that leaves a wide-open race for the second spot. Italy (13) are the next-best ranked side in the group, but their supremacy over No. 28 Argentina is not assured.
South Africa, ranked 54th and participating in their second WWC, will be on the hunt for their first-ever point in the competition.
