It was a rivalry for the ages.

In the end of their storied rivalry, Novak Djokovic got the best of Rafael Nadal one last time.

It took 90 minutes for Djokovic to defeat Nadal 6-2, 7-6(5) in the third-place match of the Six Kings Slam in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Saturday, ending their entertaining rivalry. Though it didn't count officially as their 61st head-to-head meeting, their match ended in a similar result to their last-sanctioned meeting — when  Djokovic produced a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Nadal in the Paris Olympics this past summer.

Nadal is slated to retire as an active player after the Davis Cup Finals in November, although Djokovic told his longtime rival "don't leave tennis, man" in a heartwarming moment following the match.

In 60 sanctioned matches head-to-head dating back to 2006, Djokovic owns a 31-29 edge over Nadal.

Altogether, Djokovic has won 24 Grand Slam titles to Nadal's 22 in a rivalry for the ages.
