With Kazuchika Okada vs. Bryan Danielson set to steal a lot of the spotlight at Forbidden Door 2, DAZN has decided to look at number of dream matches from years gone by.
Can Okada vs. Danielson be as memorable as the matches on our list?
Hulk Hogan vs. Ric Flair, 1994
Originally pencilled in as the main event for Wrestlemania 8 in 1992, Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair would have to wait another two years to meet on PPV as Vince McMahon reportedly got cold feet on the idea following lacklustre house show sales. When the pair did eventually meet on the grand stage, it was in a WCW ring where Hogan defeated Flair to win the WCW world title at Bash of the Beach 1994.
The Rock vs. Hulk Hogan, 2002
In front of an electric audience in Toronto, Hulk Hogan, who had been away from the WWE for almost a decade, faced The Rock in a stunning encounter. The Hulkster entered the match a heel but within minutes he had the crowd on his side as rediscovered the magic of what made him such a huge name in the 1980s. The Rock won the match, but it was Hogan who made the biggest impact.
John Cena vs. The Rock, 2012
Away from WWE for almost eight years to pursue a career in Hollywood, The Rock returned to WWE in 2011 and challenged John Cena. The match took place at Wrestlemania 28 following an incredible build and it was the "Great One" who emerged victorious as he defeated Cena before renewing the rivalry at the following year’s event.
HHH vs. Sting, 2015
Long associated with WCW, Sting finally made his WWE debut in 2014 and he instantly made HHH his main target. The two collided at Wrestlemania 31 and it was the WWE authority figure who got the win. The bout was nostalgia fuelled and had plenty of interference from The NWO and DX, but after all that had happened, it was clear that the pair had huge respect for each other.
