The road to WrestleMania begins at the Royal Rumble.

WWE's first major Premium Live Event of 2024 is just weeks away, as the road to WrestleMania begins with the annual Royal Rumble.

Thirty Superstars will compete in two over-the-top battle royals to determine who will get a world title shot on the grandest stage of them all in Philadelphia this April.

One of the hallmarks of the Rumble events is the anticipation of seeing which names will make a surprise appearance during the match. Here are five possible names we could see across the men's and women's rumble matches...

Sasha Banks

Mercedes Mone had been widely expected to have signed for AEW by now, but the delay in her next move has only increased the speculation she's set for a WWE return at the Royal Rumble. It's been nearly two years since Banks walked out of the company, but with Triple H now at the helm and fresh match-ups on the horizon, it could be boss time once again for WWE's women's division.

The Rock

The People's Champ has already stunned the WWE fans twice in recent months, and there's every chance he could do it again at the Royal Rumble - especially when we are led to believe WWE are setting up for his titanic WrestleMania clash with Roman Reigns. Will winning the rumble open Rock's path to challenging the head of the table in what would be the biggest bout the company could host?

Jade Cargill

There was quite a fuss made about the signing of Jade Cargill in September as WWE paraded the former AEW star across all three of their brands. However, she's been conspicuous by her absence since the end of last year, leading to the belief that WWE are saving her for a big Royal Rumble in-ring debut later this month.

Matt Cardona

Being fired by WWE was the best thing to ever happen to the man formally known as Zack Ryder, as Cardona has become king of the indies, making a name for himself across a plethora of promotions under his real name. A return to WWE has always been talked about, and with Cardona as hot as he is right now, it would seem like the perfect moment to cash in on the profile he has built.

X-Pac

No Royal Rumble is complete without a dose of nostalgia, so why not a hark back to WWE's 'Attitude Era'? Sean Waltman has remained in good shape and recently claimed he could work a Rumble match. So why not 'break it down' one more time in 2024?
