Four of the card's five matches had championships on the line.

AEW Dynamite Grand Slam 2023 had four matches with championships on the line Thursday night.

MJF, with an assist from Adam Cole, retained his AEW World Championship by choking out Samoa Joe in the main event of the card at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing, New York. Also, Saraya successfully defended her AEW Women's World Championship with a pinfall victory over Toni Storm.

But then there were two matchups where titles did officially change hands.

Jon Moxley punished Ray Fenix with everything from a King Kong Lariat to a Curb Stomp on the stage. Yet, the savagery couldn't overcome Fenix's aerial assault, which included a front-forward flip off the ramp, springboard double stomp and leg drop lariat.

Fenix would nail Moxley with two Fenix Drivers to get the pinfall and become the new AEW International Champion, ending Moxley's short reign as the titleholder at just 17 days.

In the opening match of the show, Eddie Kingston kicked out of a Ricola Bomb and moments later using a spinning backfist and powerbomb of his own to defeat Claudio Castagnoli to become the new ROH World Champion, adding the title to his NJPW Strong Openweight Championship hardware.

The two rivals shook hands as a sign of respect after their latest match.
