Legendary British wrestler considers retirementDAZN
It appears to be the case after a recent Facebook post.

British wrestling star Jody Fleisch has appeared to announce his retirement from professional wrestling.

The 43-year-old is most known for his time in Frontier Wrestling Alliance, One Pro Wrestling and Real Quality Wrestling but has appeared for a number of promotions across the world, including Progress, Ring of Honor and TNA.

He is regarded as one of the British wrestling scene's most influential performers of the 21st century, alongside fellow Brits who made it to the global scene such as Doug Williams and Jonny Storm.

In a post on social media, Fleisch outlined a series of injuries taking their toll on his body, including his latest setback on his neck - which requires surgery - and admitted it's likely he is done.

Fleisch said: "Well, sorry guys - I think that might be a wrap for me.

"I’m all better from my Achilles surgery, apart from a tiny, weak right calf, but that should as good as the other one in time, which is what I wanted.

"I’ve got this hang up about being in perfect working order from head to toe. That’s not just for wrestling, but for life in general.

"I could have been back from ages ago, but I’ve had a lot of other stuff going on, and was casually thinking I would come back soon, soonish, or just whenever. I thought wrestling was always gonna be there for me.

"Strangely enough, since the moment I was told this, all I’ve wanted to do all of a sudden is get back to doing shows.

"But the other day I got the results back from a scan on my neck. Not good."

Fleisch continued: "I have to have a big operation on my spine. Some herniated discs - I think 8.

"I’ve been told that I won’t be able to bump any more if I have the surgery, and that was when the doc believed it was just the possibility of one disc. I won’t know much else until I meet with the cervical surgeon.

"It’s funny how much your mind can change in the space of a day. Different things keep occurring to me that I’ll miss about wrestling. From the fans, to the boys and the girls, people backstage, the travel - all sorts.

"Sorry for this, and for coming off the radar for so long while [naively] assuming I get a free pass from Mother Nature to come back whenever I wanted.

"I’ll keep you posted more this time. I know it’s at least a 6 month recovery from the surgery. If it turns out I won’t be seeing you more, I’ll at least get more active on socials and stuff.

"Not sure how many of you noticed, but it became increasingly hard to get any kind of opinion out of me to do with wrestling. It was imposter syndrome or something like that. Lol now I can hardly shut up about it. I could honestly write books!

"Anyway, like I say, I’ll post something when I know a bit more. Hope to see you all again!"
