Powerhouse Hobbs has had numerous mentors on screen during his time in AEW, but the former TNT champion says Mark Henry is the man who guides him behind the scenes.

Since making his debut in AEW in 2020, Hobbs has continued to improve, and he’s correctly seen as a bright hope for the future within Tony Khan’s company.

Despite being a company insistent on pushing young and fresh talent, AEW also has a number of veterans amongst their ranks and one of them is Henry.

The man who spent who two decades in WWE now has a presence backstage in AEW and Hobbs is one of the roster who’s been the beneficiary of Henry’s wisdom.

"That [Henry] is my wrestling dad. He gets on me when I need it,” said Hobbs when speaking on McGuire on Wrestling. “It doesn’t even have to be about the good things, that doesn’t matter, but things that need to be fixed.

“Things that are going to take me to the next level. Things that I need to do to transition better. ‘This works, look at that camera even longer, do your snarl here, turn that red light on when you need to but turn it off when you need to.’

“He treats me just like his children. It’s a blessing to have him. I go to him for things outside of the ring."
