WWE begins its post-WrestleMania season with a landmark Backlash Premium Live Event next month.
For the first time ever, WWE will host a PLE from France, as the LDLC Arena in Lyon will be the setting for the event on May 4.
The event is set to mark the first defences of WWE's new world champions in Cody Rhodes and Damian Priest, so here are some early predictions on what could make up the card in France.
Cody Rhodes vs. AJ Styles for the Undisputed WWE Championship
Following the events from last week's SmackDown, it looks like WWE will be going down a safe route with Rhodes's first WWE Title defence, with a showdown with the Phenomenal one. Styles has to overcome LA Knight first, which seems likely, given WWE won't want to feed Knight to Rhodes and upset his momentum, and then it's on to face the American Nightmare - which will be a first-time meeting between the pair on the WWE roster.
Damian Priest vs. Jey Uso for the WWE World Championship
After last week's Raw, we already know that the number one contender for Priest's newly won World Championship is Jey Uso. With no announcement to when that meeting will take place, it's a safe guess we'll see it go down in France. Jey is one of the most over Superstars in the company and will be a popular challenger. However, don't rule out Drew McIntyre possibly forcing his way into the bout - and CM Punk costing him again.
Kabuki Warriors vs. Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill for the Women's Tag Team Championships
With Belair and Cargill looking like they are remaining as a short-term team and having already scored a win over Damage CTRL, this tag team title clash seems inevitable. A tag title reign is one of the few achievements the EST of WWE is yet to add to her CV, and it would mark a nice early milestone for Cargill, too. It will also keep WWE's newest star bubbling along before the big singles run.
Tama Tonga vs. Jimmy Uso
The next chapter of the Bloodline began right after WrestleMania, with Solo Sikoa seemingly taking over the reins and booting out Jimmy Uso - with a little help from a new face to WWE fans. Tama Tonga made his debut to signify a new era for the faction, and it could begin with a match against the now exiled Uso, and slowly begin the process of making two strands of The Bloodline stable.
Rhea Ripley vs. Liv Morgan for the Women's World Championship
Morgan wasted no time in signalling her intentions following WrestleMania. Having been missed off the card in Philadelphia, she's ready to make a point, and it's aimed straight at the women's world champion. The two have history, too, having been tag team champions together before Ripley's epic run with The Judgement Day. WWE simply can't have an event without Ripley right now, and a bout with Morgan makes the most sense for Backlash.
Sami Zayn vs. Sheamus for the Intercontinental Championship
The Celtic Warrior makes his return to Raw this week. Could he set his sights on the only championship he's never won? Many expect Chad Gable to turn on Zayn in this story, but it could come a little later down the line, but first the new Intercontinental champion may have to deal with the big Irishman. It's a nice high-profile first defence for Zayn and maybe it's Gable who has a say in the ending of the match in Lyon.
Other possible additions
- Street Profits vs. A-Town Down Under for SmackDown Tag Team Championships
- Bayley vs. Tiffany Stratton vs. Naomi for the WWE Women's Championship
- Rey Mysterio vs. Santos Esobar
