Preview and predictions for Survivor Series: WarGames 2024DAZN

This Saturday night, WWE hosts its annual Thanksgiving tradition when it presents the 2024 Survivor Series Premium Live Event.

Survivor Series is one of WWE's longest-running shows, dating back to 1987 and makes up part of the original 'big 4' alongside WrestleMania, Royal Rumble and SummerSlam.

In recent years, the event has been given a new twist by adding the WarGames match to its card, a classic gimmick match notably used by WCW in the 80s and 90s and brought back by WWE in 2017 as part of NXT.

This year the headline act will see Roman Reigns lead his original Bloodline team against the Solo Sikoa's new Bloodline in the double-cage match, along with a women's WarGames bout as well.

DAZN News previews and predictions the big event from Vancouver.

LA Knight vs. Shinsuke Nakamura  for the United States title

The latest return of Shinsuke Nakamura has seen him target LA Knight and has quickly led to him defending his United States championship against the King of Strong Style in Canada.

Nakamura has made a habit of these quick comebacks for feuds, only to always eventually end up on the losing end and then disappear again. It is hard not to see a repeat of that in his programme with Knight, but maybe not just yet.

Seeing how quickly this rivalry has been put together, we could see a non-contest finish to this one that leads to an extended angle before Knight eventually sends Nakamura off on another hiatus.

Bron Breakker vs. Sheamus vs. Ludwig Kaiser for the Intercontinental title

The interaction between these three on RAW has brought some nice fire for each man, and it is pleasing to see Kaiser rewarded for his work by getting a PLE appearance away from Gunther or Imperium. However, this match should really only go one way, and that is with Breakker retaining the IC belt.

This is not the right time for Sheamus to finally get hold of the one title that has eluded him his whole career (possibly leave that for WrestleMania), and it is more about keeping Breakker strong and continuing to be the centrepiece of the mid-card scene until his obvious elevation to the main event picture in 2025.

Gunther vs. Damian Priest for the WWE world heavyweight title

The build to this world championship rematch has not been to everyone's liking, with Gunther showing too much vulnerability towards the fired-up former champion. Part of the issue is that there is not a great belief that Priest is getting the belt back and beating the Austrian here. So it has been a difficult match to buy into.

With that being said, Priest has done some of his best mic work during this feud and he now feels like a proper main event player. It is just tricky where to place him, once he does lose this shot, which sees Gunther's reign with the strap continue.

Rhea Ripley, Bianca Belair, Bayley, Iyo Skye and Naomi vs. Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez, Nia Jax, Tiffiany Stratton and Candice LaRae - Women's WarGames match

There was not a real need for a women's WarGames match, so the build to this has felt a little forced, and it may have been more beneficial to have thrown them into a more traditional Survivor Series elimination match. Nevertheless, there is no denying these matches are always fun, and there are some interesting strands within each team to keep an eye on.

The most obvious is the continuing story between Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan, which should dominate this match, while Bayley's addition to the team offers some interesting tension between her and former rival Bianca Belair and ex-stablemate Iyo Skye. It could be that uneasy relationship that ultimately costs Ripley's team the match and furthers her story with Morgan into another chapter - possibly all the way to WrestleMania.

Roman Reigns, Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso, Sami Zayn and CM Punk vs. Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa and Bronson Reed - Men's WarGames match

The addition of a fifth man to these teams is still slightly baffling given the obvious story of Bloodline vs. Bloodline, but as it adds a Paul Heyman undertone to the original Bloodline side, it does give the match another interesting layer.

Adding Punk to the bout adds questions over his ability to co-exist with Roman Reigns and raises queries over who Heyman is backing - or is he about to turn on both? Arguably, that scenario overshadows the big family showdown, but in these lengthy WarGames matches, there should be time to cover all angles threaded through the build.

It is a match that could go either way - especially if we see an appearance from the Final Boss, The Rock - but expect Reigns' team to overcome the tension and find a way to overcome Solo Sikoa and his tribe.
