With UFC and WWE now operating under the same umbrella, the chances of fighters crossing over are higher than they've ever been before.
There have been some high-profile cases of competitors switching between the two promotions over the past two decades — Ken Shamrock was a former UFC Superfight Champion who later held several belts in WWE, and Brock Lesnar earned fame in WWE before winning the UFC heavyweight title. Now that they are part of the same corporate family, the two organizations could share talent on a more frequent basis.
Famed MMA trainer Javier Mendez believes there could be an influx of appearances by UFC fighters on WWE programming in the near future, especially for the bigger personalties.
"Definitely, we could see more UFC stars going over to WWE, especially the more charismatic fighters," Mendez told Canada Casino.
"Someone like Paddy Pimblett? He’d fit in well. Tom Aspinall? Maybe not yet; he doesn’t have the WWE persona yet. He might surprise me, but Paddy? Absolutely. I could see him doing good things over there."
As for arguably the biggest personality in mixed martial arts? Mendez believes it's a no brainer for Conor McGregor to work with WWE.
"McGregor would be an obvious choice too; he’d make the perfect heel," he said.
