AEW superstar Miro has reportedly requested to be released from his current contract with the company.

The 38-year-old hasn't wrestled since defeating Andrade at World's End last December, and despite suffering from shoulder and elbow injuries this year, he hasn't been used on television throughout 2024.

Fightful Select is now reporting that Miro wants out of AEW, leading to speculation he could head back to WWE, where he wrestled under the name Rusev and formed a successful partnership with his then-real-life wife, Lana.

As Rusev, he won the United States Championship three times and memorably battled John Cena at WrestleMania before being released in 2020.

After his departure, he signed with AEW, but it is believed that the creative issues have plagued his time with the company.

There has been no confirmation of his request being accepted by AEW and he is currently under contract until 2026.
