Wrestling is littlered with many memorable moments and a great chunk of them have taken place on PPV. Here, DAZN looks at the best PPVs of all time according to Cagematch .
WWE Wrestlemania 17, 2001
A show that signalled the winding down of the famous Attitude Era saw Steve Austin do the unthinkable and turn heel during his incredible match with The Rock. Backed up by a stellar cast that featured Undertaker vs. Triple H and the incredible tag team battle between The Hardys, The Dudleys, and Edge and Christian, Wrestlemania 17 delivered tremendously as WWE began to usher in a new period.
AEW All Out, 2021
Remembered fondly for the brilliant debuts of both Adam Cole and Bryan Danielson, AEW’s All Out was the night that Tony Khan’s company made a big noise. From a match perspective, it doesn’t get much better than The Lucha Brothers incredible win over The Young Bucks, but the show's closing segment that saw the arrival of two huge stars is what made All Out a classic PPV.
WWE Money in the Bank, 2011
A show built around CM Punk vowing to leave WWE with its title was enough to have people interested. In front of a rowdy Chicago crowd, Punk delivered on his promise as he defeated John Cena in a classic encounter before blowing a kiss to a stunned Vince McMahon, who watched on helplessly.
WWE Wrestlemania 19, 2003
Headlined by Brock Lesnar trying to win back the world title from Kurt Angle, Wrestlemania 19’s main event almost had a tragic ending as Lesnar fell way short on a shooting star splash. Despite the botch, Lesnar recovered brilliantly to close the show as champion. Elsewhere, Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho put on a stellar performance and there was Vince McMahon and Hulk Hogan finally settling their long rivalry.
WWE Summerslam, 2002
Featuring one of the all-time opening matches, Summerslam 2002 didn’t drop the pace following the efforts of Kurt Angle and Rey Mysterio. Shawn Michaels’ heroic comeback against Triple H was a warm moment, but Brock Lesnar becoming world champion for the first time was key for ‘The Beast’ to become one of WWE’s all-time great performers.
