WWE's next premium live event occurred on Saturday as Summerslam took place at Nissan Stadium in Nashville.
Fans criticized WWE for making the main event featuring Undisputed Universal Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar in a Last Man Standing match. It was going to be the third time they met since October 2021, with Reigns winning the first two. People wanted to see fresh matchups.
Instead, Reigns and Lesnar delivered an epic affair. It was one everyone will remember for a long time. But, in the end, it was Reigns who completed the clean sweep, defeating Lesnar in an iconic battle to remain the champion.
Before the match began, Lesnar entered on a tractor to a thunderous ovation from the crowd. From there, the war was on.
Lesnar and Reigns delivered the brutality and then some. Lesnar almost had Reigns finished on more than one occasion, and Reigns did the same. The fans were on their feet, wondering who would stay down.
Lesnar and Reigns were down when Theory came down with a referee looking to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase. But Lesnar made sure that didn't happen as Lesnar delivered an F5. From there, Reigns took control.
With help from his cousins and members of The Bloodline, The Usos, Reigns used spears and belt shots to try and keep Lesnar down. But, like Reigns earlier in the match, somehow, Lesnar kept making it to his feet.
Reigns connected on one more belt shot to down Lesnar. To ensure he didn't get up, Reigns and The Usos dumped everything ringside to keep Lesnar down to the count of 10 to remain the king of WWE.
Also on the show, Logan Paul beat The Miz in his singles debut, Pat McAfee defeated Happy Corbin, Bianca Belair retained the Raw Women's title over Becky Lynch, and Liv Morgan remained the SmackDown Women's title by beating Ronda Rousey.
