Tommy Fury settled his rivalry with Jake Paul by edging his nemesis via a close split decision win in front of a big crowd in Saudi Arabia.
With the eyes of the world watching, Fury and Paul engaged in a messy encounter with no fighter really enjoying any period of success with the referee playing just as big a role as the two fighters.
After plenty of embraces and holding in the opening stages, Fury did begin to find some momentum with his jab as he picked up some early rounds.
Paul was pushing the contest throughout and his eagerness cost him as he was deducted a point from the third man for hitting behind the head.
Later in the fight, it was Fury who lost a point as his consistent holding was finally punished by the referee.
If that helped Paul, then he was aided even further in the final session when he dropped Fury with a jab.
Despite the late rally, it was Fury who got the nod as two judges scored in his favour 76-73 against 75-74 for Paul.
It was confirmed during the fight that Paul is entitled to a rematch and he made it clear in the immediate aftermath that he’s willing to go down that route.
