Marcus Ericsson secures first IndyCar win at Detroit Grand PrixDAZN
The first of two IndyCar races this weekend in the 'Motor City' was twice red-flagged, with the second having a big say on the outcome.

Marcus Ericsson took his maiden career IndyCar race win in Saturday's action at the Belle Isle circuit, the first of two races this weekend as part of the Detroit Grand Prix.

The competition was twice red-flagged due to an early horror crash for Felix Rosenqvist followed by a crash later on at Turn 9 by Romain Grosjean. Grosjean's accident would lead to a pivotal change at the front upon the race's restart.

Will Power looked set to put a disappointing Indy 500 behind him as he led prior to crash two, but his engine was unable to fire up as things recommenced which left him stranded in the pitlane.

Chip Ganassi Racing driver Ericsson then went on to finish ahead of second-placed Rinus van Kalmthout and third-placed Patricio O'Ward.

The action continues in Detroit with race two on Sunday.

Where is the race held?

The race is held at a temporary circuit at Belle Isle in Detroit, Michigan. The race has been held from 1989 to 2001, 2007 to 2008, and since 2012. The current format of the event is a unique "doubleheader" weekend, which includes two full races, one each on Saturday and Sunday.
