Two nations making their return to the World Cup stage clash on Monday as the United States takes on Wales.
The Americans missed out on Russia 2018 after a disastrous qualification campaign, one that forced a changing of the guard as a wave of youth took over in red, white and blue. Now the USA enter Qatar 2022 as one of the youngest teams in the tournament, looking to make amends for their predecessors' failure from four years previous.
As much as the young Americans' story is one of redemption upon return to the big stage, the Welsh narrative is amplified many times over. Prior to Qatar 2022, Wales had missed out on every quadrennial since 1958, making theirs the longest drought of any current World Cup side.
Led by superstar Gareth Bale, the Welsh boast a squad filled with English league veterans and a handful of players earning their living outside of the British Isles (including Bale himself, who plays in the United States). They'll still be seen as underdogs against their North American opposition, but the Dragons will be hoping their edge in experience will provide an advantage over a green but highly talented USMNT.

USA vs. Wales: What stadium is hosting the match?
Ahmad bin Ali Stadium (a.k.a. Al-Rayyan Stadium)
Officially named the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium, the Al-Rayyan Stadium is nicknamed as such due to the city in which it stands.
The 50,000-seat venue is actually the second stadium to be built on the same spot, with its predecessor holding less than half the capacity and standing from 2003-2015.
Home to Al-Rayyan SC and Al Kharaitiyat SC of the Qatar Stars League, the stadium opened in 2020 and has since hosted matches in the 2020 FIFA Club World Cup and the FIFA Arab Cup 2021. More recently, the stadium hosted the two intercontinental play-off matches that determined the final two countries (Australia and Costa Rica) to advance to Qatar 2022.
