Alycia Baumgardner has no plans to grant Mikaela Mayer an immediate rematch after outpointing her Amercian rival on Saturday.
The pair had to be separated on multiple occasions during the heated build-up to their fight and after sharing ten hard rounds together, it doesn’t appear that the tension has simmered.
Baumgardner made an excellent start to the contest as she found the target on multiple occasions running into a healthy lead.
Mayer seemed to figure her opponent out as the fight moved into the second half, but it was Baumgardner who had her hand raised at the end, and despite the closeness of proceedings, Baumgardner insisted she was looking forward.
“That girl ain’t getting no rematch. I’m going after [WBA champion Hyun Mi] Choi like I said, for undisputed,” said Baumgardner after the fight.
“For all the doubters, I told y’all haters! Yes, I did that! Unified champion of the world!” Baumgardner continued by stating, “I think I landed the cleaner shots, the harder shots. I cut her. I was the harder puncher, and I dug down deep.”
