Deontay Wilder wasted no time setting his sights on bigger targets after he destroyed Robert Helenius in one round.

Wilder was having his first bout in over a year since losing to Tyson Fury for a second time, and he provided a brutal reminder that he’s boxing’s biggest puncher as a short right hand was all that was required to end the contest.

Wilder’s comeback was surrounded with intrigue as those who've witnessed his incredible exploits at heavyweight pondered whether the damage endured in the Fury rivalry would have a long-lasting impact.

Wilder dismissed any doubts on his condition as he added another early stoppage to his 46-fight ledger.

With Helenius out the way, Wilder’s attention will now switch to becoming world champion for a second time and he made that clear in his post-fight interview.

With fights against Anthony Joshua, Andy Ruiz and Oleksandr Usyk all rumoured, Wilder made it clear that he’ll be aiming high when his career resumes in 2023.

“I’ve been hearing rumours about Usyk but he’s not here, is he?” asked Wilder after his most recent win.

“When guys see these knockouts, they turn the corner away from me. I’m ready for whatever. Whether it’s Andy Ruiz Jr. or Usyk, I’m ready. Deontay is back and the excitement in the heavyweight division is back.”
