Canelo vs. Jermell Charlo: Will Jermall Charlo help his brother train for the fight?DAZN

When Canelo vs. Charlo was first announced, many critics and fans alike simply assumed that it would be Jermall Charlo taking on the face of boxing September 30 in Las Vegas.

After all, Jermall is the WBC middleweight world champion and would only have to move up one weight class to challenge the boxing superstar. So just imagine the shock felt by the boxing world when it was clarified that Jermell Charlo would be moving up two divisions from junior middleweight to super middleweight to contend for Canelo Alvarez's 168-pound undisputed crown.

That being said, will Jermall be assisting his twin brother Jermell during the most important training camp of his life?

"I don't know what he's going to do," Jermell conceded to Showtime Sports on Tuesday about his brother's involvement.

"I don't know what type of support I'm going to get from him or if he's thinking I'm going to win or lose because he say he's next."

Jermell, the undisputed 154-pound king, added that such thinking by his brother would negate a rematch between he and Canelo in the case he pulls off the upset against the Mexican legend.

"We're in a whole different ball field right now," Jermell added. "We got a whole different mindset."

Whether Jermall assists his brother toward training for Canelo remains to be seen, though Alvarez made it a point Tuesday to insist that it was Jermell over Jermall the entire time of consideration for the fight.

He also didn't hesitate to make his pick when Showtime Sports asked him who's better between the twins.

"I think Jermell is a better fighter," Alvarez stated. "I think Jermell is a better fighter — that's what I think — because his skills.

"He fought with better opposition — that's why."

Indeed, Jermell Charlo has fought and defeated former world champions such as John Jackson, Austin Trout, Tony Harrison, Jeison Rosario and Brian Castano.
