Chris Eubank Jr. and Liam Williams will have to wait until 2022 to settle their differences.

Chris Eubank Jr. was excited about taking on Liam Williams on December 11th. The postponed bout will now take place on January 29th after the Welshman was injured in training, but the delay in action has irked the Brighton fighter.

With both men fighting to stay relevant at the business end of the 160lbs division after previous failures to collect big titles there earlier in their careers, a lot is at stake in this brilliant match up. Despite the setback, Nisse Sauerland from Wasserman Boxing, the promoter of Eubank Jr., believes the extra preparation time could do his fighter plenty of good.

"Chris was disappointed by the injury," said Sauerland when speaking to Sky Sports. “The good thing is, he doesn't have that long to wait. He knows that. It gives him a bit of extra time with trainer Roy Jones Jr. to prepare for the fight. Some extra sparring, try out some new things, and I think he's going to be even more hungry.

"It's going to kick-off the year in the right way, and I think it's going to be a brilliant fight. They are just going to go at it. Liam Williams said at the press conference, he's going to jab and move against Chris, but I can't see that happening. It's going to be an all-out war and I can't see it going the distance either."
