Chelsea enjoyed an easy win as they visited their rivals Spurs on Thursday night.

Chelsea won at Spurs courtesy of a Jorginho penalty that sealed a 1-0 victory against Jose Mourinho’s toothless side.

Thomas Tuchel was in charge of his third game as Chelsea boss and the win means that he is yet to taste defeat as manager of his new side.

Spurs were without star striker Harry Kane, who is out with two ankle injuries suffered during their defeat to Liverpool last week, and struggled to both create and finish chances throughout the game.

Chelsea were much more dangerous from open play throughout the game, with Timo Werner going close in the opening seconds, and both Callum Hudson-Odoi and Mason Mount enjoying chances that forced goalkeeper Hugo Lloris into action.

However it was from the spot that Chelsea grabbed the winner, as Eric Dier clumsily brought down Werner in the box to concede a penalty midway through the first half. Italian midfielder Jorginho duly converted.

Mourinho watched on as his side failed to break down their opponents until a late flurry of pressure with 10 minutes remaining, but by then it was too little, too late. The win means that Chelsea move into sixth place, leapfrogging Spurs in the process.

Mourinho may now be feeling the pressure as his side slides down the table after what looked to be a promising start to the season, while Tuchel will be hoping to launch a charge up the table to secure Champions League football for next season.
