Eddie Hearn is ready to make a fight between Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor after the lightweight champion defeated Natasha Jonas in their first professional meeting at the weekend as part of the Derek Chisora vs. Joseph Parker card.

Taylor had already beaten Jonas when the pairs were amateurs in an Olympic qualification bout, but was a convincing winner of a tough fight on Saturday.

In the aftermath of the win, Taylor has called for a fight against Serrano as she looks to make the biggest matches before she even considers retirement.

She also suggested that she might be <a href="https://www.dazn.com/en-GB/news/boxing/katie-taylor-calls-for-jessica-mccaskill-and-amanda-serrano-fights/4ddstrxyr0xs17qtwgh3vbhvn" target="_blank">ready to face Jessica McCaskill in her next fight</a>, but Serrano appeals to Hearn.

Speaking to the <a href="https://www.dazn.com/en-GB/home/ArticleId:1fumqic8amiyc1n3bfike4rwyj" target="_blank">DAZN Boxing Show</a>, Hearn praised his fighter for her efforts as she retained her status as the undisputed champion at the weight.

“Katie Taylor, fight after fight, time after time, performance after performance, she’s an absolute superstar,” he said.

When asked about setting up Taylor-Serrano, Hearn quickly responded: “Let’s do it.”

The bout was discussed a year or so ago, but negotiations went nowhere. It would still rank as one of the biggest possible women's fights to be made, with many experts putting both fighters in their top three pound-for-pound rankings along with Claressa Shields.

Eddie Hearn is ready to make a<a href="https://www.dazn.com/en-GB/news/boxing/derek-chisora-says-he-wont-retire-wants-immediate-rematch-with-joseph-parker/vvbz3ms88qah1j9eplco4fdo5" target="_blank"> rematch between Derek Chisora and Joseph Parker</a> and believes his fighter did enough to win their first match-up.

The 37-year-old Briton floored Parker at the start of the first round and dominated the early stages of the bout, but Parker grew into the contest, before winning on a judges’ decision.

Many observers felt it would have been a fair call if Chisora had got the nod, and Hearn himself thinks he was the victor.

Speaking on the <a href="https://www.dazn.com/en-GB/home/ArticleId:1fumqic8amiyc1n3bfike4rwyj" target="_blank">DAZN Boxing Show</a>, Hearn claimed: “I thought Chisora won the fight. 

“I thought he won the 12th round to win the fight. He was walking the first six rounds, then he fell asleep. “

"Parker started coming into the fight. I gave him the 12th round. If anyone was going to win the fight it was Derek Chisora.”

With Chisora calling for another fight with Parker and showing little interest in retirement, the Matchroom head said he was happy to explore a rematch.

“We'll talk about the rematch, with a fantastic card,” he said.

Eddie Hearn dismissed Bob Arum’s concerns over the chances of Anthony Joshua’s fight with Tyson Fury, suggesting he could make an announcement this weekend.

While Hearn has been bullish on the fight for some time, and appears to have been at the heart of driving contract negotiations forward, as well as leading the legwork to find a suitable location, <a href="https://www.dazn.com/en-GB/news/boxing/anthony-joshua-vs-tyson-fury-is-dead-in-the-water-claims-bob-arum/1nzfu7rlp3r9g1qhgqaqr5tl6b">Arum has variously suggested</a> the fight was in doubt or dead.

Speaking to <a href="https://www.dazn.com/en-GB/home/ArticleId:1fumqic8amiyc1n3bfike4rwyj" target="_blank">DAZN’s Boxing Show</a>, the Matchroom head had little patience for Arum’s outbursts.

“He said we hadn’t spoken in two weeks, we’d actually spoken on the Friday, so we’d actually spoken when it was three days and he said two weeks,” he claimed.

“From there I gave my side of the story and then he went on a crazy one. He went from, ‘the fight’s in doubt,’ to, ‘the fight’s dead in the water,’ all within five hours without speaking to anyone. So that was Bob. 

“Thankfully Fury’s side has come out and said we’ve got the contract, the new longform agreement from the site. All the teams are reviewing that now and we go back to the site today with our comments and we get it signed.

“I can’t speak for Tyson Fury, but I don't think anything is in jeopardy. Everyone is moving as fast as we can.”

Hearn then said that an announcement could be imminent, perhaps after the Canelo Alvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders fight on May 8, <a href="https://www.dazn.com/home" target="_blank">shown globally on DAZN</a> (except in Mexico).

“In an ideal world I’d love to be in the ring after the fight with you guys [Ak & Barak] or [Chris] Mannix, giving you some great news so we’ll see if that’s possible.”

Hearn then said that Arum’s outbursts might be because he has not had so much money riding on a site before, nor had he dealt with the Saudi Arabian representatives previously. Hearn has already worked with them when putting on the 2019 Ruiz v Joshua rematch.

“I said Arum has never been as big a site fee as this before. He hasn’t. I’ve haven’t. In fact no one has. It’s the biggest site deal in boxing history. But I have been in a site deal for a slightly less amount of money with the same people, for the Andy Ruiz fight. I know these people, I know the process,” he said.

“Bob Arum has been involved in some huge fights. But he hasn’t been involved with these people, for this much money.

“The only sympathy I have for Bob, When I did the deal with these people for the Andy Ruiz fight, I thought it wasn’t happening. 

“I’ve said it before, but I also understand the process to get fights of this magnitude done.”

Eddie Hearn says he has found it hard to deal with the Canelo Alvarez vs Billy Joe Saunders fight as he represents both boxers.

Latest reports suggest that Saunders and the Mexican champion are in <a href="https://www.dazn.com/en-GB/news/boxing/canelo-alvarez-and-billy-joe-saunders-in-ring-size-dispute-claims-tyson-fury/cs8qe2g4aa9f1hysxb5ctbt3w" target="_blank">dispute over the size of the ring</a>, and the British fighter has been critical of the Matchroom head in the build-up to the event

Hearn told the <a href="https://www.dazn.com/en-GB/home/ArticleId:1fumqic8amiyc1n3bfike4rwyj" target="_blank">DAZN Boxing Show</a> that he believes that Saunders might be building the pressure up in order to ensure that he is not discriminated against on fight night.

“I think that part of it might be tactics to make sure he gets a fair crack of the whip,” Hearn explained.

“He feels people have favoured Canelo Alavarez before on the judges side of things. We’ve got three neutral officials.

“Tyson Fury, jumps on the bandwagon, “favours” Canelo Alvarez."

Hearn also suggested that Saunders’ attitude in the run-up to the fight - <a href="https://www.dazn.com/en-GB/home" target="_blank">shown globally on DAZN on May 8</a> (except in Mexico) was not doing him any favours.

“Billy Joe Saunders refuses to do any media, so Canelo has been doing all the media, so Canelo gets all the attention.

“Canelo Alvarez is the pound-for-pound number one so everyone is talking about him.”

Hearn then admitted that he found himself in an invidious position and thought it was now up to the boxers to settle any differences on the night.

“I hate doing fights when you represent both the fighters - normally you fall out with someone,” he began.

“The truth is Canelo Alvarez asked me to get the Billy Joe Saunders fight. I delivered it for him. Billy Joe Saunders asked me to get the Canelo Alvarez fight. I delivered it for him.

“Guys it’s over to you. I can’t fight for you.

“I promise you on Saturday night you will see the best ever Billy Joe Saunders. Will that be enough to beat Canelo Alvarez? That’s another story.

“But I said to Billy, if you win, I’ll be delighted for you.”

The promoter is having to negotiate claim and counter-claim ahead of the May 8 fight.

Billy Joe Saunders and Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez are in disagreement over the size of the ring for their fight, according to Tyson Fury.

Canelo then hopes to move onto a fight with IBF champion Caleb Plant in September, assuming he defeats Saunders.

However the two fighters are currently at odds over the size of the ring in which they will compete, Fury reported on social media.

"I got off the phone with Billy Joe. It seems like they are trying a lot of tricks in Texas with him,” he said.

"I just want to say; you can try all of the motherf— tricks in the world but you won't beat Billy Joe.

On the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKUC3HISZlE" target="_blank"> Behind The Gloves </a> podcast, Saunders previously explained his thoughts on the ring size, saying: "You don't go into a 70,000-seat [venue] and dance in a 16ft or 18ft ring, or even a 20ft ring.

"This magnitude of a fight has to be on a fair playing field. A proper legitimate ring, proper legitimate gloves.

"I just want a fair shake of the dice."

The pair are in last-minute negotiations ahead of their May 8 fight on DAZN.

Joshua Buatsi's journey towards world title contendership continues in chief support to the anticipated unification main event between Terri Harper and Hyun-Mi Choi on May 15 in Manchester, as he takes on Frenchman Daniel Blenda Dos Santos for the WBA International light-heavyweight title.

The explosive British contender stopped Marko Calic in October to continue his destructive rise up the rankings and has since travelled to America to team up with new trainer Virgil Hunter, who guided the career of pound-for-pound star Andre Ward inside the very same weight class. 
 
France's Dos Santos is undefeated in 15 fights, with eight of his wins coming inside the distance, and the 30-year-old from Pont-Sainte-Maxence has been more active than Buatsi in recent months, fighting twice in 2021 and earning a first-round stoppage last time out.  
 
"I've got an unbeaten opponent, that makes him ambitious," said Buatsi. "Obviously it's the first fight under Virgil, so it's should be interesting.

"I'm looking forward to showing what I've been working on with Virgil. He's going to want to hold onto his undefeated record, as I am. When that's at stake you really dig deep.

"It's mainly the style that I like. Each of his fighters translate it differently. The public haven't seen how good I can be, or I will be. I want to unlock the potential that I have got. This addition to the team will 100 per cent bring the best out of me."

Buatsi vs. Dos Santos is part of a big night of boxing in at the AO Arena in Manchester, which recently also hosted the Derek Chisora vs. Joseph Parker card. 

Harper (11-0-1, 6 KOs) attempts to add Choi's (18-0-1, 4 KOs) WBA title to her WBC and IBO belts at 130lbs in the main event, there is also a triple-header of European title fights.

Jeff Jarrett has just about done it all in professional wrestling. 
 
Jarrett is a WWE Hall of Famer, a former WWE Tag Team, and an Intercontinental champion. He's also a former multi-time WCW heavyweight champion and former United States champion. 
 
After WWE bought WCW in March 2001, Jarrett and his father, Jerry, formed NWA Total Nonstop Action (TNA) in June. Jarrett became a six-time NWA heavyweight champion and got inducted into the TNA Hall of Fame in 2015. 
 
The next step in Jarrett's legendary career is a route he resisted for a long time, a podcaster. Starting on Tuesday, Jarrett will debut a podcast titled "My World With Jeff Jarrett" with renowned podcast host Conrad Thompson.

Ahead of the inaugural episode, Jarrett talks with DAZN News about why he decided to finally get into the podcast space, the 1999 No Mercy controversy.

DAZN: We chatted right before Starrcast in 2019 in Chicago. I asked you then about Conrad's comments about a podcast, and you told me not interested, not a chance. Little less than two years later, Jeff, we're here talking about “My World” debuting May 4. What changed?  

Jeff Jarrett: Being a third-generation promoter, I've never been interested in looking in the rearview mirror as a promoter or even a wrestler. You're only as good as your last match, and whatever you did, good or bad in your past, learn from it, and get better tomorrow and look toward the future — but coming through and who would have dreamed two years ago that when we had our conversation neither one of us could have ever imagined, or no one could have that we will be having a world pandemic and shut down and locked down.

That opened my eyes obviously to a lot of different things. But one of them was just sort of the nature of on-demand entertainment, with streaming and Netflix and Hulu, and of course, YouTube and all that's been around. I've traveled for 35 years. A buddy of mine did a little tracking and said, when's the last time this is like day 30, 40, or day 50 of the pandemic? When's the last time you've been in town this long, consecutively? We went back to my high school days. I've always traveled. I've never really stayed home for a month. I think we counted right around the three-week mark. Always traveling. So staying home and just looking at life a little different was one thing.

Conrad's been persistent from day one. When Bruce and him launched in 2017, and brought Bruce on board, and started “Something to Wrestle With”, he was soft-pitching me, then Conrad started Starrcast. He's been persistent. But then another thing, and you'll be able to relate to this. I don't even have to ask if you watched it because I know you did, but when I watched “The Last Dance with (Michael) Jordan, and he sat there with that laptop in his lap, and when to watch some archival footage and see the emotion. I'm a basketball junkie. I'm a huge basketball fan, played college basketball. How emotional he got, which made me get (emotional). I couldn't wait to watch the next episode. It was so good. It began to open my eyes. The format Conrad has intrigues me. It's not guest-driven. It's event-driven. 

DAZN: You got that beautiful (WWE) Intercontinental title to the right of you. There have been plenty of great designs of that belt. What’s your favorite one?

JJ: I would like to have an IC title with the white leather. That was the Double J one. But that look, when I look at it, reminds me of Curt Henning. It reminds me of “Macho Man” Randy Savage, a Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Scott Hall. That generation because obviously, I wore that IC title in 1998-1999. It changed, so that to me is the classic model. Because you know, I can you remember so vividly that Randy Savage lost a loser-leaves town (match) in Memphis and went up to the WWF at that time. He's up there, and then for you know it, he's the IC champ. So as a fan, which I was long before as a promoter, a wrestler, and as a fan, and I'm still a fan today, that version right there to me sort of solidifies the classic IC strap.

DAZN: How do you not annoyed when people bring up everything that happened at No Mercy 1999 in terms of demanding all of the money you were owed and everything else before heading to WCW? 

JJ: Am I tired of it? No, because, you know, 20 years later, 21 years later, people still want to talk about that. They want to talk about me getting fired on Nitro. They want to talk about what happened on TNA episode four. All this different kind of stuff. That's really what I'm excited about because of Conrad's cadence. He doesn't mind rolling up his sleeves and doing his homework, and understanding the whole context of everything that goes around the event. So that's all on him. And my job is going to be to Okay, here's this, here's this story. Here's the story and our thought about how it came together.

DAZN: What's it mean to you the fact that one of the biggest parts of your legacy good, better, and different is the guitar shots, and people can take one piece of nostalgia and still talk about it with you to this day?

JJ: I'm from Nashville. When you have different artists that have had 20 or 30 No. 1 hits and a piece of work over here that was some of the best, and they had a tour they co-headlined with this artist. But you have a reporter that comes up, says ‘Hey, remember when you did that little jingle for this deal’? It's really a small part, but to the complete fan base, me swinging guitar shots obviously became a very integral part of it.

I'm a promoter. I'm a wrestler. I'm an IC champ. I'm a world champ. I'm an NWA champ. All the guitar shots people love to talk about them because, in my opinion, humbly, my opinion, I don't think there's a wrestling fan out there that doesn't have a brother, a sister, a cousin, a grandfather, a boss, a co-worker, that they were like, ‘I'd love to take a guitar and smack the hell out of this person’. They can live vicariously through me in a lot of ways. And that's a big part of our industry of emotionally connecting with everybody. 

DAZN: You got the belts back there. Which one means the most to you and why?

JJ: There's no way for me to favor one more than the other. One of the titles that I will always hold near and dear to my gut, in a lot of ways, is the X-Division title. That was the division we created, and there were lots of negative stuff behind the scenes early. What are you doing? These guys were quote, unquote, flip-flop flying. It doesn't make any sense. I'm like, ‘No, my friend. That's what you're missing’. With the X-Division, we said it's not about weight limits. It's about no limits. So the creation of the X-Division is a belt that I used to really take a lot of pride when I'd see Samoa Joe, who's a heavyweight quote, unquote, or AJ Styles, who moved into heavyweight status, or Christopher Daniels, who may be a tag wrestler.

The NWA title, my dad's favorite belt by far. Dory Funk, Jr. was his favorite champion. We talked a little bit about the IC title and the “Macho Man,” and that lineage goes through that to Tito (Santana) and Pedro (Morales). Then the big gold (belt), it goes without saying (Ric) Flair is so synonymous with the big gold belt. From a personal point of view is the Mega championship of AAA. I’m the longest reigning non-Mexican wrestlers to ever hold that belt. I take a lot of pride in my run down there. They all have different elements on an emotional connection to me.

Billy Joe Saunders gets the big fight he's been waiting for as <a href="https://www.dazn.com/en-US/news/boxing/canelo-alvarezs-next-fight-date-time-price-odds-full-card-for-canelo-vs-billy-joe-saunders/1fx0t3ew571fg1quk7gt4ykx4f" target="_blank">he takes on Canelo Alvarez</a> in a super-middleweight title unification bout on Saturday from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on DAZN (excluding Mexico).  
 
Saunders will be the second Englishman Alvarez faces in his three most recent fights. Six days before Christmas, <a href="https://www.dazn.com/en-US/news/boxing/canelo-vs-callum-smith-live-results-updates-highlights-from-full-card/1eupar7mf47nm1smkpkpxru2y3" target="_blank">Alvarez dominated Callum Smith </a>to win the WBA and WBC super-middleweight titles to become a four-division world champion.  
 
The WBO super-middleweight titlist is of the mentality Smith shouldn't have taken the fight on five weeks' notice and should've given himself more time to prepare for the guy many feel is the top pound-for-pound fighter in the sport. Saunders feels Smith took the fight on short notice for one reason only.

"You know, and I can only go and think he got offered a hell of a lot of money, and I think he was probably put in the same position as me," Saunders said on DAZN's "Off The Cuff." "And he took the money route.

"My opinion, I don't think he was at his best. I'm not taking anything away from Canelo, but when you box someone like him, you need two months to get your head around everything what comes with that. Because if you think you're gonna take it on five weeks' notice, next thing you know, your bags are packed, you're on the plane, you're over there, you're [doing] media, you're this, you're in the ring, the lights are on, you don't know what's happening. No, no, no. That's not proper preparation.

"And I don't care if they say he stays in the gym, he stays fit. Mentally, that's, you know, you need that mental side of things to get your head around this full situation, not just be blinded by money put in front of you. Because I believe that's what happened to him. I believe he went in there for the money, rather than the destiny of actually being the man to dethrone Canelo. Because he's a good fighter, Smith, and I just don't think that was his night, definitely not." 
 
In preparation for Alvarez, Saunders (30-0, 14 KOs) didn't bother watching too much of Alvarez-Smith. Why, might you ask? Because Saunders felt right away that Smith had the wrong game plan to get the job done. 
 
"I can give you my opinion of what I think happened," Saunders said. "But I can't really give you my full opinion of the fight because I'll be honest with you – I've only watched the highlights, and I've only watched about two minutes of it and turned it off because I rate Callum Smith as a fighter. But I think he went in there depending on power and size, and that don't work. Game plan completely wrong, fought completely wrong."

Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez is on a mission to conquer the super middleweight division and reign as the first undisputed 168-pound world champion in boxing history.

Already owning the WBA (Super), WBC, and The Ring super middleweight titles, Alvarez continues his quest May 8 of Cinco de Mayo weekend when he faces WBO titleholder Billy Joe Saunders in a fight shown globally by <a href="https://www.dazn.com/home" target="_blank">DAZN</a> (except in Mexico). The unification bout will take place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Tex., with the English southpaw Saunders figuring to present a complex style for the boxing superstar to solve.

Canelo has already stated that he wants four fights this year, having already dispatched of Avni Yildirim after three rounds in late February, making this Saunders fight a 70-day turnaround. Naturally, if Alvarez is successful against Saunders, he'll try to book a fight with IBF champion Caleb Plant for a shot to clinch undisputed glory. But that's getting ahead of ourselves, as Saunders — at least on paper — is shaping up to be a staunch test. 

That being said, who is Billy Joe Saunders and how did he punch a ticket to face arguably the best boxer on the planet?

<h2>Who is Billy Joe Saunders?</h2>

Saunders, 31, is an England native, who first splashed onto the boxing scene and made an early name for himself in the amateur ranks. There, the sound-boxing southpaw grabbed a first place gold medal as a then-welterweight in amateur tournaments such as the Commonwealth Championships in Liverpool in 2007 and the EU Championships in Poland in 2008.

Seeing his own potential grow and build up steam, Saunders made his professional boxing debut in February 2009 at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham, England. There, a then-19-year-old Saunders scored a second-round TKO against Attila Molnar to collect his very first pro victory. Saunders subsequently built up his ledger, racking up wins in English venues such as York Hall, Echo Arena, The O2 Arena and Wembley Arena. The latter venue was where Saunders captured the Southern Area middleweight title with a 10-round decision over fellow Englishman Gary Boulden in only his 11th pro fight back in November 2011. The Commonwealth and British middleweight titles would follow, as would laying claim to the WBO International middleweight strap.

After victories over the likes of hard-hitting Irishman Gary O'Sullivan, Englishmen John Ryder and Chris Eubank Jr., Saunders received his first world title shot. The bout was against Irish fighter Andy Lee at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England in December 2015. Saunders thoroughly outboxed Lee, dropping him twice, en route to a majority decision win (114–112, 115–111, 113–113) to hoist the WBO middleweight title into the air.

He'd defend that title against Artur Akavov, Willie Monroe Jr. and David Lemieux. A still-undefeated Saunders was set to defend the WBO title against Demetrius Andrade in October 2018, before the English fighter tested positive for a banned substance. He was forced to relinquish the title. Andrade would go on to claim that vacant title, which is still in his grasp today.

Meanwhile, Saunders, coming off a six-month suspension, set his sights on another division — super middleweight. In May 2019, Saunders fought Shefat Isufi with the vacant WBO 168-pound world title on the line at Lamex Stadium in Stevenage, England. Saunders completely outclassed Isufi in a lopsided unanimous decision to become a two-division world champion. To date, Saunders has defended the title twice: via an 11th-round KO of Marcelo Esteban Coceres in November 2019 and a unanimous decision over Martin Murray this past December.

And that brings us to the biggest fight of Saunders' life — a shot at the face of boxing, Canelo Alvarez, in a massive title unification bout. The fight has been a long time in the making, as it was first slated for May 2, 2020 in Las Vegas, before the COVID-19 pandemic dashed those hopes and turned the world upside down as we know it. Now, a year later and the undefeated Saunders (30-0, 14 KOs) has a chance to define just how great of a boxer he truly is by going up against Canelo (55-1-2, 37 KOs), who seemingly gets better with each fight.

Who is Billy Joe Saunders, Canelo Alvarez's next opponent?

Katie Taylor wants another big fight and aims to take on Amanda Serrano.

Taylor put all four of her lightweight belts on the line on Saturday when <a href="https://www.dazn.com/en-GB/news/boxing/natasha-jonas-wants-katie-taylor-rematch-after-tight-loss/1pssrnqie007u1j28xu04ugjsq" target="_blank">she faced off with Natasha Jonas</a>, and despite being made to work hard by her former Olympic rival, she secured a victory by way of a unanimous decision.

Speaking to <a href="https://www.skysports.com/boxing/news/12183/12293111/katie-taylor-sets-sights-on-amanda-serrano-to-further-her-greatness-after-defeating-natasha-jonas" target="_blank">Sky Sports</a>, Taylor namechecked Serrano and Jessica McCaskill as fights she is looking to make.

 "There are still huge fights against the likes of Jessica McCaskill and Amanda Serrano,” she said.

"There is no such thing as an easy fight at this stage of your career.

"I want the big names, I want the big fights. There are big names out there.

"I definitely want to challenge myself against the very, very best. That's what I'm in the sport for.

"I don't see the point in ducking anyone or picking and choosing opponents.

"I want the very best because they bring out the best in me.

"That's what greatness looks like."

The fight saw her keep her belts and her undefeated record, and she praised her opponent for pushing her all the way.

She said: "It was a great fight and I'm just happy to have woken up as the world champion this morning.

"A phenomenal fight. Credit to Tasha who brought her A-game.

"Every time we box each other, we steal the show!

"I was expecting a tough 10-round battle and that's what it was.

"It was up in the air halfway through. But I won the championship rounds - the eighth, ninth and 10th.

"I had to show a lot of heart and grit. So did she. The last few rounds were crucial.

"I wasn't ever hurt in the fight. I wasn't worried about her power going into it.

"She obviously caught me with a few shots but I was never hurt or concerned at any point."

WBA champion Trevor Bryan wants to fight Mike Tyson ahead of a bout with either Anthony Joshua or Tyson Fury.

The 31-year-old American is the current WBA ‘Regular’ champion, a belt last held by Tyson in 1996. Tyson last fought for a major belt back in 2002, and most recently put on an exhibition fight with Roy Jones Jr in November at the age of 54.

He is expected to fight another former world heavyweight champion, Lennox Lewis, <a href="https://www.dazn.com/en-GB/news/boxing/lennox-lewis-confirms-mike-tyson-exhibition-talks-at-andy-ruiz-jr-vs-chris-arreola-fight/100yo9ifeg5y61p91xpgob2lnv" target="_blank">with a fight potentially set for this September</a>.

However <a href="https://www.worldboxingnews.net/2021/05/01/mike-tyson-title-lennox-lewis/" target="_blank">World Boxing News</a> reports that Bryan wants to prepare for a full championship fight with Joshua or Fury, and will do so with a fight against Tyson.

He said: “Bring on Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury. I’ll take their belts and become the undisputed heavyweight champion.

“I’ll even give Iron Mike Tyson the opportunity to come back and fight me for my title. I’m more than ready, so let’s get it on. We are ready to go.

"I’ll take on Mike Tyson for a tune-up, and then I’ll fight either Joshua or Fury the same night.”

Joshua and Fury are still in negotiations to finalise their two-fight deal, with WBC champion Fury reportedly growing <a href="https://www.dazn.com/en-GB/news/boxing/anthony-joshua-vs-tyson-fury-delay-frustrating-fury-claims-andy-lee/ieszuzz2tc0h13rot8ubczn13" target="_blank">frustrated with the time it is taking to confirm the event</a>.

WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol is aiming to become the division’s undisputed champion.

The Russian was in control for his match against Craig Richards on Saturday as part of the <a href="https://www.dazn.com/en-GB/news/boxing/anthony-joshua-vs-tyson-fury-bill-should-feature-my-rematch-with-joseph-parker-claims-derek-chisora/3ob3ijztk7k11g04df0x1a6ar" target="_blank">Derek Chisora vs. Joseph Parker undercard</a>, and recorded a 118-10, 115-13, 115-14 victory after the fight went the distance, but it was not a one-sided affair.

Bivol admitted he had to put a shift in after so long away from boxing, with the coronavirus pandemic at the heart of a year-and-a-half absence from competitive action.

Speaking to <a href="https://www.matchroomboxing.com/news/parker-edges-past-chisora-via-split-decision/" target="_blank">Matchroom</a>, Bivol admitted: “I’m not happy but I’m okay.

“It was a long rest for me and I went into the ring after one and a half years. It’s fine. My opponent was a good fighter, really good. He’s smart and he thinks. He was thinking for the whole fight.

"It’s okay. I was feeling that I’d won. I gave him a couple of rounds for recovery. I landed more clean punches. I respect him and I respected him before the fight. I think he can make problems for all fighters because of his style.

"He moved a lot. Fighters who move a lot and have good speed are really hard. He is a good fighter, but I have more weapons in my arsenal. I’m glad I have had another defence. Of course, I want unification fights. I still want them. I haven’t had a chance to fight for another belt, this is why I defend my belt.”

There are three more belts up for grabs in the division, with Artur Beterbiev holding the WBC and IBF belts, and Joe Smith Jr. the WBO champion. The 30-year-old fighter is aiming to secure a fight against either of them in the future.

"I’d like to fight for another belt, it would be a good challenge for me,” he confirmed.

“I believe I can become the undisputed world champion one day, this is why I train, that’s why I have a good team. I believe one day I will be if I train hard. Thanks to everyone who supports me and watched this fight.”

Chris Eubank Jr called for a fight with Gennadiy Golovkin after defending his WBA interim middleweight titles against Marcus Morrison at the weekend.

Eubank Jr secured the win over his challenger as part of the <a href="https://www.dazn.com/en-GB/news/boxing/anthony-joshua-vs-tyson-fury-bill-should-feature-my-rematch-with-joseph-parker-claims-derek-chisora/3ob3ijztk7k11g04df0x1a6ar">Derek Chisora vs. Joseph Parker undercard</a>, in a fight that should keep him sharp should a title chance come up for grabs later in the year.

The 31-year-old fighter secured a 98-92, 98-92, 98-92 win over Morrison at the Manchester Arena and told promoters <a href="https://www.matchroomboxing.com/news/parker-edges-past-chisora-via-split-decision/" target="_blank">Matchroom</a> that he was ready to move forward to make fights higher up the rankings.

“My last fight lasted two rounds, so really it’s been two years since I had a twelve-round fight," Eubank Jr said. 

"There was definitely some ring rust, and there was definitely some getting back into the swing of things. I had him hurt bad in the second round. I backed off. I wanted him to recover so that I could be seen again. 

"I’m back on TV, I’m back fighting, this is my home. This is my life; this is what I do. I wanted to go the distance and get those rounds in. I’m happy with the performance. I followed instruction; he was telling me to do things in the corner and I went out there and did it. 

“That’s kind of alien to me. Usually most of my career has been dependent on what I want to do, my instincts and my reaction. But now we have a head coach in Roy Jones Jr and I fully trust him. I’m happy to be paired with him.

"This is the beginning of a long and great journey for me. I want to be very active this year, I want to fight at least twice more. This is a good start. Full credit to Marcus. I’ve hit guys with shots like that and they’ve gone. He kept coming. 

“A lot of respect for Marcus. There’s a lot of world champions in the middleweight division. There’s a lot of big names out there for me to go and fight. Golovkin is the end goal, and anyone with a world title. I’m coming, they’re all on the radar.”

Former heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr. returned to boxing for the first time since his 2019 defeat to Anthony Joshua, and secured a win over Chris Arreola, but the American admitted he was ‘too overconfident’.

Ruiz was the IBO, IBF, WBA and WBO champion after surprising Joshua in their first 2019 clash, but lost all the belts in their rematch in Saudi Arabia later in the year. He had admitted that his lifestyle had cost him the chance of defending the titles to the best of his ability.

Joshua is now set to challenge for the title of undisputed heavyweight champion <a href="https://www.dazn.com/en-GB/news/boxing/anthony-joshua-vs-tyson-fury-delay-frustrating-fury-claims-andy-lee/ieszuzz2tc0h13rot8ubczn13" target="_blank">in a two-fight event with Tyson Fury</a>, while for Ruiz it has been a long road back.

The 31-year-old fighter has slimmed down to something like the best shape of his career in preparation for the fight with Arreola, and was ultimately a convincing winner. However he was sent to the canvas by his rival early in the fight before coming back.

Speaking after the fight, Ruiz acknowledged he faced a tough opponent.

"Chris is a veteran and a hard puncher,” said Ruiz. 

“We did what we had to do tonight. We got the victory that we wanted. I was at my lowest point and now I have to climb the ladder again. I'm thankful for the victory and I'm ready to move on to the next.”

"He got me with a good clean right hand in the second round,” Ruiz continued. 

“I was too overconfident and dropped my hand a bit. Hats off to him. We just kept pushing and pushing. I switched up and started focusing on counterpunching and working the body.”

Ruiz continued to dominate as he grew into the fight, and secured a unanimous decision, 117-110, 118-109 and 118-109. He has been linked with Deontay Wilder in his next fight, also on his way back from a crushing defeat of his own.

Natasha Jonas fell short of matching Katie Taylor as she challenged for all four lightweight belts on Saturday, but after a close fight wants a rematch.

Taylor put her IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO belts on the line for her fight as part of the <a href="https://www.dazn.com/en-GB/news/boxing/derek-chisora-vs-joseph-parker-live-updates-results-highlights-from-full-card/m0qsx9k0q7s51lmisfcfu44iv" target="_blank">Derek Chisora vs. Joseph Parker undercard</a>, and was pushed all the way by her opponent.

Jonas gave Taylor a fright in the sixth round with a heavy connection, but ultimately Taylor won out with a unanimous 96-94, 96-95, 96-95 decision, in one of the best women’s fights so far this year.

This was the second time the pair had met, with Jonas beaten by Taylor during the Olympic trials, and the 36-year-old Briton is aiming for a third fight down the line.

Speaking after the fight, Jonas claimed: “I knew it was close. Every time I’m asked to step up, I do. When the team is ready, I will fight Katie again. I feel I belong at this level. Twice I’ve proven it, and I want to win titles and I want to become a champion.

“There were rounds that I hurt her but I gave her some time to recover, but it’s all learning as this is only my 12th professional fight. Anybody from 130lbs to 140lbs, I’m ready.”

Dereck Chisora wants a rematch with Joseph Parker to feature on the Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury undercard.

The 37-year-old British heavyweight lost to his New Zealand rival, 29, at the weekend on a split decision after 12 rounds.

Chisora believes he has done enough to win and Parker seems open to a rematch, and ‘Del Boy’ wants the fight to be part of the bill for the undisputed heavyweight event - even if <a href="https://www.dazn.com/en-GB/news/boxing/anthony-joshua-vs-tyson-fury-delay-frustrating-fury-claims-andy-lee/ieszuzz2tc0h13rot8ubczn13" target="_blank">it is not clear when the fight will be</a>.

On Instagram after the fight, Chisora said: "Fight fans thank you! I appreciate all the messages and love after battling for 12 rounds with @joeboxerparker last night. It's been amazing.

"I'm not slowing down or retiring, I'm ready to jump straight into the rematch. Dillian Whyte thought I won the fight, Andy Lee thought I won it. Even Joseph Parker knew he lost.

"Respect to Joe for stepping in the ring with me, but we need to do it again - find out the real winner. @eddiehearn make it happen - undercard of AJ-Fury in Saudi - I won't be leaving it to judges scorecards next time!"

He continued by making clear he was not entertaining thoughts of retirement despite the defeat.

"I was putting in more power punches, inside work, but I can't get upset anymore," he said.

"But you know what, I won't let them slow me down. No way. I will not let them slow me down. I will go again.

"They want to see me retire, but I'm not retiring yet, forget that."

Tyson Fury is frustrated by the wait to confirm his fight with Anthony Joshua, Andy Lee has claimed.

Lee is part of Fury’s training setup and was last seen involved with Joseph Parker as the New Zealand heavyweight defeated <a href="https://www.dazn.com/en-GB/news/boxing/derek-chisora-vs-joseph-parker-live-updates-results-highlights-from-full-card/m0qsx9k0q7s51lmisfcfu44iv" target="_blank">Derek Chisora at the weekend</a>.

Fury and Joshua have been in talks for the best part of half a year in pursuit of finalising a two-fight deal to become the undisputed heavyweight champion.

They are expected to meet in the summer in Saudi Arabia, and financial terms have been agreed between the two boxers, but no announcement has been made to confirm the details of the clash, and Fury, and both his promoters Frank Warren and Bob Arum, have all raised doubts about the likelihood of the fight.

Speaking to <a href="https://www.skysports.com/boxing/news/12183/12293185/tyson-fury-frustrated-by-delay-to-anthony-joshua-fight-says-andy-lee-hes-been-held-up-by-it-he-does-like-to-be-active">Sky Sports</a>, Lee said that the inactivity is starting to rankle with Fury, but he is unsure if it may ultimately benefit the WBC champion.

"He is frustrated," Lee said. 

"The end-date was February, then it was March, now we're still going on.

"He's very frustrated that the biggest, most powerful people in boxing (promoters Bob Arum, Eddie Hearn and all the networks) but they can't seem to get the deal done for whatever reason."

However, Lee has no doubts the fight would go ahead, saying: "It's inevitable that it will happen.

"But all this sitting around and waiting? Tyson could have fought in February or March. He's been held up by it. He does like to be active.

"I don't know if it's to his detriment or his benefit that this wait has happened.

"He will be ready to unleash the fury when this fight is on!"

The upcoming showdown between WBA (Super), WBC and The Ring super-middleweight champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez and WBO titleholder Billy Joe Saunders, airing live Saturday, May 8, on DAZN (except in Mexico), has generated excitement in the boxing community ever since it was confirmed. Now, the megafight is mere days away.

Alvarez is on such a roll, the pound-for-pound king of the current pugilistic scene is the overwhelming favourite in every fight he takes on. However there is no denying that Saunders provides his toughest challenge since his two bouts with middleweight great Gennadiy 'Triple G' Golovkin.

Here, DAZN analyses exactly why Saunders will be far from the easy night's work that Avni Yiildirim was for Alvarez in February, and why he is likely to play into Canelo's hands a lot less than the man the Mexican defeated last December to begin his path towards unification at 168lbs, Callum Smith.

It can be broken down into four key factors:

<h2>Saunders is a southpaw, not an orthodox boxer</h2>

In boxing terminilogy, a right-handed boxer is regarded as fighting 'orthodox' while a leftie is called a 'southpaw'. It has been a while since Canelo last encountered a southpaw fighter, too.

And while he knocked out his last left-handed opponent, James Kirkland, six years and 11 fights ago, Saunders' style is far more suited to taking full advantage of the awkwardness a southpaw can inflict upon an adversary who is accustomed to having their own way.

<h2>The Brit is very technically proficient</h2>

Many Canelo opponents in recent years have either a) gone in expecting or hoping to be able to bully him around as they do against most other, lesser fighters and receive a very rude awakening; or b) enter the bout knowing full well they have a mountain to climb and hope they can weather Canelo's relentless offense until an opening appears or Canelo makes a critical error.

Every now and then, Alvarez faces someone who can expertly mix up their approach and counter-punch from a multitude of situations. Whenever he has — Erislandy Lara, Austin Trout and of course, Golovkin spring to mind — the nature of Canelo's victory has been far less convincing than every other outing.

Then, of course, there was his solitary professional loss so far, to Floyd Mayweather Jr. Canelo constantly claims in interviews that he is a much different fighter now than he was when he cut a young, naive and frustrated figure in another Mayweather masterclass back in 2013, but Saunders will employ by far the closest to the defensive style Mayweather perfected that Alvarez has had to encounter since then.

So, perhaps we will find out just how much Canelo can handle that approach compared to seven-and-a-half years ago.

<h2>Nobody has defeated Saunders before</h2>

Of course, Alvarez has an impressive resume of boxers on whom he inflicted their first professional defeat. Saunders would be another elite name to go onto that list, should Canelo emerge victorious. However, the aura of invincibility a fighter enjoys when they've come this far and achieved as much as BJS has without being conquered once makes them a more difficult code to crack than if they had endured the feeling of being second-best.

The unbeaten record, combined with the technical style, means Alvarez will likely need to be patient and perhaps even overcome some initial feelings of frustration before he receives that first real opportunity to take over in the contest.

Just how much has Canelo become used to being in charge of a fight from the opening bell? How will he react if he has to bide his time, or change his approach mid-fight? We could very easily find out on Saturday.

<h2>Billy Joe fears absolutely no fight</h2>

The bout has been billed as 'Face The Fearless' for a reason.

Saunders has, on multiple occasions, made it abundantly clear that he is not intimidated by his toughest challenge to date. And nobody has accused him of being all-talk in those claims, either.

Billy Joe's background, his training and his community have all revolved around the 'fight until you drop' mentality, and a stubborn determination to either win or go out on one's shield. As a result, it's unlikely even a perfect start for Canelo will break his opponent's spirit.

Should Alvarez win all of the first six rounds, Saunders will not forget that there are six more to play for. If a knockout ends up the only way to avoid a wide points defeat, we can expect to see the Brit go for broke. And, if Saunders is able to move ahead on the scorecards early on, it's unlikely BJS will panic and leave openings for a comeback as easily as, say, George Groves did in his first challenge of Carl Froch at the same weight class.

'Victory or Valhalla' is a handy outlook to have when you face the best boxer in the world today. Especially with the other three aspects outlined above. Though the favourite, this should be Canelo's biggest challenge since the Golovkin encounters.

Since participating in a non-competitive exhibition bout with fellow retired fiftysomething boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. last November, Mike Tyson's intended next in-ring activity has been the talk of the sport.

For a while, his infamous world heavyweight championship rival Evander Holyfield — with whom Tyson contested a contentious first bout filled with headbutt controversy before infamously biting a chunk out of Holyfield's ear in the rematch — appeared to be the ideal opponent for exhibition number two.

However, an unorthodox trilogy fight in their series will have to wait, if it ever happens. Holyfield will indeed return to the ring, but against fellow Tyson conqueror Kevin McBride on June 5 in chief support to the anticipated first defence of unified lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez against fellow unbeaten fighter George Kambosos.

In the wake of that news, Tyson has recently been linked with another old rival, Britain's former undisputed heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis. Tyson and Lewis had a wild pull-apart at a face-to-face media event before their encounter, which was handily won by Lewis.

While attending Andy Ruiz Jr's successful return against fellow heavyweight Chris Arreola on Saturday in a work capacity for the FOX television coverage, Lewis was asked whether or not the rumours of a legends' encounter with Tyson were true.

“Not yet but soon," Lewis said of a potential announcement in the near future. "Maybe. We are talking.”

Boxing website <a href="https://www.badlefthook.com/2021/5/1/22415228/lennox-lewis-confirms-talking-mike-tyson-possible-exhibition-fight-boxing-news-2021">Bad Left Hook</a> noted that Lewis’ suit jacket had a print of himself and Tyson from the poster of their 2002 fight in its lining. Whether or not this was a deliberate 'Easter Egg' hint from the 55-year-old remains to be seen.

Ruiz Jr. <a href="https://www.dazn.com/en-GB/news/boxing/andy-ruiz-jr-vs-chris-arreola-live-updates-results-and-highlights-from-the-main-card/1vtdwcy1hrtwy1b05c783kikei">recovered from a second-round knockdown to earn the win against Arreola</a> in what was his first fight since losing the WBA, WBO and IBF heavyweight titles back to Anthony Joshua. Ruiz lost a lot of excess weight and hired Canelo Alvarez's trainer Eddy Reynoso ahead of his return.

It looks like "The Baddest Man On The Planet" may be getting his next big name opponent on the seniors circuit...
