There are many wide receivers expected to be selected in the first couple rounds of the 2024 NFL Draft, but few are expected to be taken as early as Malik Nabers.
Nabers is looking to become the latest LSU wideout to make a name for himself in the NFL, and the majority of mock drafts have him being selected in the top-ten picks.
So who exactly is Malik Nabers and why is he so highly rated? DAZN takes a look.
Background and college career
Born in Youngsville, Louisiana, Malik Nabers attended Ovey Comeaux High School in Lafayette before transferring to Southside High School.
After high school, Nabers committed to Mississippi State University before switching to LSU where he ripped up the record books.
Nabers made just 28 receptions as a freshman, but exploded into life in his sophomore year and had an even better year in 2023.
Last season Nabers made 89 receptions for 1,569 yards and 14 touchdowns. His 3,003 total yards for LSU is the college's all-time record, while his 1,569 yards in 2023 is third highest for a single season.
The wide receiver who tops that chart? Ja'Marr Chase. And the player just behind him in fourth? Justin Jefferson. Two of the best wide receivers in today's NFL.
What sort of player is he?
Nabers is the epitome of the word 'explosiveness'. His incredible speed and ability to find gaps in zone coverage makes him a nightmare for defenses to deal wtih.
Nabers does not have the polish that Marvin Harrison Jr. has, but he can play in all three receiver spots and seamlessly creates separation at the line of scrimmage.
The only thing Nabers does not bring is size, but the likes of Tank Dell and DeVonta Smith have proved that size is not everything in the NFL.
Where is he likely to be drafted?
The Los Angeles Chargers, pick five, and New York Giants, pick six, are two landing spots often linked with Malik Nabers.
If a team trades up to take J.J. McCarthy, then Nabers could slide a couple picks, but even so is expected to be taken in the top-ten picks.
