Quarterback Caleb Williams has made a big decision ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft.
The prospective first-overall pick has declined the option of having an agent or representative as he enters the NFL.
Williams faces a critical few months in his NFL career. Firstly, Williams will attend the NFL Scouting Combine. Here, he will participate in on-field drills and physical tests and conduct formal interviews with teams.
The combine is the kick-off for draft season. Williams will then partake in pro days, formal visits and private workouts.
It is a hectic time for all prospects. Williams is not the first quarterback to go it alone. In 2018, Lamar Jackson entered the league with no representation. Jackson handled all business with his parent's guidance.
Agents can play a critical role during the draft process. They manage players' appearances and meetings, prepare them for interviews, and guide them through the media spotlight.
Williams is the favourite to be the first-overall pick. He is a former Heisman Trophy winner with rare ability. Some have compared him to Patrick Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers.
And all eyes will be on Williams through the process.
