Cleveland Browns vs. Pittsburgh Steelers: Head-to-head record, results and more

Cleveland Browns vs. Pittsburgh Steelers: Head-to-head record, results and moreGetty

The Pittsburgh Steelers can take another step towards securing postseason football for the 2024 NFL season when they meet the Cleveland Browns in a Week 12 encounter.

The first of two clashes between the AFC North rivals sees the visitors in pole position with an 8-2 record so far this term in the league, available with NFL Game Pass on DAZN.

That is a terrific return for the Steelers, which is surely the envy of the Browns, who find themselves nursing a 2-8 record heading into the winter months of the campaign.

The pair are due to meet again in the return fixture in just over two weeks, and there will be plenty of impetus for both sides to secure the win the first time around here.

Cleveland will hope they can bounce a two-game losing streak to find a much-needed win for morale, while Pittsburgh are looking to make it six victories on the trot.

But just how do these two teams stack up against each other, and what does their current form tell us about this matchup?

Here's everything you need to know about the head-to-head record between the Browns and the Steelers.

One of the longest-running matchups in NFL history, the Browns and the Steelers can date their rivalry back to the postwar period, first meeting professionally in 1950.

That is almost three-quarters of a century ago, with their position in the AFC North division ensuring they meet twice per term, helping to build a storied shared experience.

The Turnpike Rivalry is the oldest in the American Football Conference, though a shared group means that it has only thrown up three postseason clashes in their history.

Eight years apart, the Steelers picked up major wins over the Browns, with a 29-9 triumph in the 1994 AFC Divisional Round and a 36-33 win in the 2002 AFC Wild Card Round.

With six Super Bowls, Pittsburgh has been one of the biggest names in football for generations, though neither of those victories came during successful campaigns.

Conversely, Cleveland secured a win in the 2020 AFC Wild Card Round, topping a high-scoring 48-37 round before losing to the Kansas City Chiefs a week later.

In overall honours, the Steelers are on top with more wins, while they have played a solitary draw - a clash in September 2018 when they finished 21-21.

This term, only one of the two can rule the roost - and it is quite clear that the Steelers have everything going for them in 2024 as they head towards the postseason.

Pittsburgh are 8-2 for the campaign, with a five-game win streak at their back as they head to Ohio, knowing that another win will move them closer to automatic qualification.

Their only serious competition are the Baltimore Ravens, but with a 7-4 record there, the visitors will have the advantage as long as they keep grinding out the wins.

Those triumphs have included narrow wins over the Washington Commanders among others, while their only losses came by a combined margin of six points in Weeks 4 and 5.

After an 11-6 campaign last term, there had been hopes the Browns might have mounted another challenge this term - but alas, their campaign lies in tatters already.

At 2-8, they are one of the worst-performing sides in the league so far, with a win against fellow strugglers the Jacksonville Jaguars their only bright spot early on.

They beat the Ravens in Week 8 to shake up things at the top of the AFC North pool, but subsequent losses to the Los Angeles Chargers and the New Orleans Saints have hurt.
