The 49ers playmaker was forced off during the first-half of his side's Divisional Round win over the Green Bay Packers on Saturday.

The San Francisco 49ers have confirmed that wide receiver Deebo Samuel did not suffer a broken shoulder during their Divisional Round play-off win over the Green Bay Packers on Saturday.

However, the Niners still face an anxious wait to see if the playmaker will be fit to take on the Detroit Lions on Sunday night in the NFC Championship game.

Samuel was forced out of the narrow 24-21 win over the Packers during the first half after suffering an injury to his shoulder, having hauled in two catches for 24 yards. The 28-year-old missed two games with a shoulder problem earlier this season, with the Niners losing both contests.

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan gave an update on the wideout’s injury, adding that the club should have a better idea of his availability ahead of this weekend’s clash on Wednesday.

“It wasn’t broken, so that was a real good sign,” Shanahan said. “But it’s still hurting too much for us to have a good idea of how it’s going to heal up this week. So we’ve just got to be patient, see how he feels on Wednesday. And based off of (whether or not) it’s improving, we’ll see if he has a chance for the game or not.

“If we know he’s not available, then it makes it easier from a game-planning standpoint,” Shanahan said. “But if there’s any chance, which I think we’ll have a better idea of Wednesday, obviously there’ll be things in (the game plan) for him.”

The 49ers host the Lions at Levi’s Stadium on Sunday evening, with the winners progressing to Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas, where they would play the victors of the Baltimore Ravens versus Kansas City Chiefs AFC Championship game
