The Denver Broncos have one of the more interesting quarterback situations in the NFL going into the start of the preseason.
After calling time on the failed Russell Wilson trade last season, the Broncos ended the season with Jarrett Stidham under centre and he is now one of three QBs vying for the Week One starter’s job in Colorado next month.
While Stidham has the advantage of being the incumbent starter and knowing the playbook, he will be up against rookie Bo Nix and former New York Jets second-overall draft pick Zack Wilson.
Nix is the name to watch after Denver surprised many by selecting the former Oregon man 12th overall in the draft, indicating how highly Sean Payton and his coaching staff rate him.
The team have now had a first-hand look at Nix in action at training camp, and Payton likes what he sees.
"We'll see the tape and evaluate it, but I thought overall (he did) pretty well," Payton said, via The Denver Post. "There's clips, plays that you'll correct it and there's others where you're going to say, 'Hey.' … He ran with the ones and I like his progress."
The trio are all likely to see action in preseason, with their first game taking place on Sunday, August 11 against the Indianapolis Colts, with contests against the Green Bay Packers and Arizona Cardinals following before the Broncos Week One opener against the Seattle Seahawks.
