As the clock ticks down towards the start of the 2023 NFL season on Thursday night, there is still one question hanging over the opening game between the Detroit Lions and Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead.
Will the Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce be fit to play?
Kelce's status for the game has been questionable after he hyperextended his knee in practice on Tuesday, and while he did avoid suffering a more serious injury which could have had huge rammifcations for his season, there still might not be enough time for him to return to full fitness before the clash with the Lions.
Now Chiefs owner Clark Hunt has given a positive update on Kelce's availability to NFL Network's James Palmer.
"I know he had a little bit of a setback the other day with a minor knee injury," Hunt said.
"We hope that he'll be able to go tonight. He'll be a game-time decision, but he's somebody who loves to compete, so I wouldn't bet against him being on the field tonight."
