Five weeks into the NFL season and the Kansas City Chiefs remain undefeated after overwhelming the New Orleans Saints, 26-13, on Monday Night Football.
Here, DAZN lists five takeaways from the game:
JuJu Smith-Schuster remains a big threat, puts Chiefs' offense into perspective
Smith-Schuster told it to ESPN best, saying "you're always open" when playing with Patrick Mahomes within this Chiefs' offense.
The dynamic wideout showed what a home-run threat he can be when the Chiefs needed him the most Monday night.
With the Chiefs nursing a three-point lead in the fourth quarter, Mahomes aired it out for Smith-Schuster who turned the short catch into a 50-yard gain that KC used to ultimately bury the Saints.
The veteran's seven catches for 130 yards shows what a big-time weapon Smith-Schuster is every time he touches the ball.
In short, the Chiefs' offense is scary.
Kareem Hunt hasn't missed a beat
Hunt generating 102 yards and a touchdown rushing on 27 carries shows that the Chiefs simply plugged and played the running back into the lineup in his second stint with the team — all without missing a beat.
That doesn't bode well for the rest of the AFC at all.
The Chiefs' ingenuity might be underrated
For the TD that broke the Saints' back, the Chiefs opted for star tight end Travis Kelce to take the direct snap and hand it off to rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy who took it to the house.
This kind of creativity cannot be undervalued as it's part of the Chiefs' fabric of what makes them great, not to mention, champions.
How do you stop Mahomes' scrambling?
This play showcases how when all else fails, Mahomes can dance in the pocket and make things happen arguably better than any quarterback.
The question for the rest of the NFL is how do you stop the superstar QB from doing this over and over?
Mahomes on his feet is absolute magic, indeed.
The Saints can't afford to lose Derek Carr
In attempting a fourth-down pass during the fourth quarter, Carr was crushed by a Chiefs' blitz, immediately grabbing his side.
He left the game with an oblique injury and told reporters after the game that he'll get an MRI on Tuesday.
Having already lost three games in a row, the Saints (2-3) cannot afford to also lose their franchise quarterback. So their faithful fans will hold their collective breath, hoping for pleasant news with that MRI.
