His legs spread like the iconic Michael Jordan Jumpman logo, Garrett Wilson leapt back and came down with a one-handed touchdown reception for the ages.
The dynamic wide receiver's spectacular fourth-quarter grab helped the New York Jets snap their five-game skid with a 21-13 win over the Houston Texans at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on Thursday Night Football. Wilson finished with nine catches for 90 yards and two TDs including the reception that instantly set the Internet on fire.
"Garrett's been telling me, 'just throw it up,'" Jets' quarterback Aaron Rodgers said on the Prime post-game show. "'Just throw it up.'"
Interestingly enough, the jaw-dropping touchdown pass that put the Jets up for good was originally ruled an incomplete pass as officials thought Wilson was out of bounds. However, the Jets challenged the call and it was reversed, granting the Jets a 14-10 lead with 13:01 left in the game. Wilson's first touchdown reception came in the third quarter.
For good measure, Rodgers then found Davante Adams for a touchdown connection to put the Jets up 21-10 with under three minutes remaining.
Gang Green was also aided by a monstrous defensive effort which tallied eight sacks on Texans' quarterback C.J. Stroud.
With the win, the Jets improve to 3-6, while the Texans fall to 6-3 with the loss.
Here are key updates and highlights from the Jets' victory over the Texans on Thursday Night Football.
