As the Philadelphia Eagles get set for their second NFC Championship game in three years when they host the Washington Commanders on Sunday, the injury status of Jalen Hurts has been a key talking point.

The Eagles quarterback appeared to injure his left knee during the Divisional Round win over the LA Rams last weekend after taking a pounding hit on one of the seven sacks he had to endure during his side's 28-22 victory.

Hurts was not forced out of the game, but saw his mobility limited in the closing stages, as the Eagles had to rely on a late 78-yard rushing touchdown from Saquon Barkley to seal a spot in the NFL’s final four

The team listed Hurts as a limited practice participant on Wednesday’s injury report, with the passer later giving an update himself.

“It’s just been progressing,” Hurts said. “Taking it a day at a time. I was able to participate today and be involved in stuff, so just taking it a day at a time.”

Hurts then remained coy when asked if he believed he would be able to play at his usual level against the Commanders.

"Every game is different, so I just want to take it a day at a time and keep progressing," Hurts added.

This will be the third time the two NFC East rivals will have met this season, with the teams splitting a pair of bruising regular season divisional clashes that saw the Commanders' defence get to Hurts.

The fifth-year passer was evaluated for a concussion in the Eagles’ Week 11 26-18 victory over the Commanders but passed the protocol and remained in the game, while he was forced out of the Week 16 encounter in Washington when he did suffer a concussion and was forced to watch as Jayden Daniels led the hosts to an exciting 36-33 win.
