The Los Angeles Rams are going for a third straight victory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
On Sunday, the teams meet in the divisional round in Florida, with a spot in the NFC Championship Game on the line. The Bucs are, of course, the defending Super Bowl champions and the No. 2 seed in the conference, but they're going up against a Rams team that has had their number during the Tom Brady era in Tampa.
Brady was outduelled by then-Rams starting quarterback Jared Goff back in Nov. 2020, with LA leaving the Sunshine State with a 27-24 victory. A little less than a year later, the Buccaneers visited SoFi Stadium and again fell to the Rams, 34-24, largely due to the stellar play of current LA QB Matthew Stafford, who threw four touchdown passes that day.
Now, Stafford and the Rams head to Raymond James Stadium, looking to once again put one over on Brady's Bucs, this time in a playoff situation. However, Stafford stresses that Sunday's game is less about him versus Brady and more about what the pivots can do to help their respective teams win.
“I’m not playing against him, you know one-on-one, but I understand that he’s a great player, and he’s going to get his team in the end zone, so I’ve got to do my part as well,” Stafford told reporters on Tuesday, via ESPN's Lindsey Thiry.
