Festive cheer being spread by Seattle's superfan ‘Broccoli Guy’ – a beacon of positivity and goodnessDAZN

The year is almost done, Christmas is upon us and the NFL is reaching the business end of the season. It's a time of joy and merriment, peace and love.

While there is plenty that should be taken seriously, sometimes it's okay to chill out and be a bit irreverent.

One such person is Seattle's super sports fan, Jim Stewart Allen. Working by day as a relief-teacher, Allen makes it his thing to go to as many, if not all, the key sports events in and around Seattle.

Be it baseball, rugby, soccer, basketball, NFL, ice hockey or Ultimate Frisbee, if he can be there he will be.

But Allen isn't an ordinary fan; he's a little quirky. Seattle locals know his as 'Broccoli guy' and he attends games in a onesie and dances with his broccoli. Here's a little more about Seattle's Broccoli Guy...

Who is ‘Broccoli Guy’?

By day, Jim Stewart Allen works as a substitute teacher, but by night (and on weekends), he transforms into 'Broccoli Guy,' the city’s most vibrant and eccentric sports fan.

Known for his broccoli-themed onesie and his boundless energy, Allen attends a wide array of Seattle sporting events, including Mariners baseball games, Seahawks football, Sounders soccer and Kraken hockey matches.

His mission? To spread positivity and bring a smile to the faces of fans and players alike.

Why broccoli?

The origin of his broccoli obsession is surprisingly simple: Allen loves vegetables.

In an interview, he shared that broccoli symbolises health, fun, and a little bit of absurdity — three things he wants to bring to the sports scene.

The vegetable became his signature prop after he started bringing a floret to games and dancing with it in the stands. Fans took notice, and the legend of 'Broccoli Guy' was born.

The onesie that started it all

Allen’s signature outfit is a green onesie adorned with broccoli patterns. It started as a fun costume, but it quickly became a staple of his persona.

Whether he’s cheering on the Mariners at T-Mobile Park or hyping up the Kraken at Climate Pledge Arena, the onesie ensures he stands out in the crowd.

Spreading joy through dance

A key part of Broccoli Guy’s charm is his infectious enthusiasm, best expressed through his dance moves.

Between innings, during timeouts, or in halftime intermissions, Allen takes to the aisles to showcase his broccoli-powered boogie.

His moves, paired with his unmistakable outfit, often draw cheers from fans and even players.

A Seattle sports superfan

Broccoli Guy isn’t just a Mariners or Seahawks fan—he’s a die-hard supporter of all Seattle teams.

From rugby to basketball to Ultimate Frisbee, if there’s a game happening in the city, you can count on Allen to be there.

His omnipresence at games has made him a local celebrity, with fans clamouring for selfies and players acknowledging him from the field.

A symbol of positivity

In a world where sports fandom can sometimes turn sour, Broccoli Guy stands out as a beacon of positivity.

His goal is simple: to make sports fun for everyone.

Whether it’s through his wacky outfits, his broccoli-themed antics, or his joyful dance moves, Allen reminds fans that sports are about more than just competition—they’re about community and joy.

In a city filled with passionate sports fans, Jim Stewart Allen — Seattle’s 'Broccoli Guy' — stands out for his unique approach to fandom.

Through his playful antics and commitment to positivity, he’s become a cherished part of Seattle’s sports culture, proving that sometimes, all it takes to bring people together is a little broccoli.
