But they must contest with their AFC East opponents, who arrive with a 2-2 record after a brutally narrow loss to the Denver Broncos last time out.

Major Vikings vs. Jets matchups

Having met on just a dozen occasions stretching back to 1970, the Vikings and the Jets have been one of the rarer matchups between NFL teams over the decades.

Twelve years once passed between encounters, and since 2002, they have historically only met every four years, with this clash marking a break from tradition.

Between the pair, it is New York who have enjoyed the better record, with eight wins against four for Minneosta - but the Vikings have had the rub of the green recently.

They have won the last three matches, stretching back to a 30-24 win in 2014, when Teddy Bridgewater threw the second-longest overtime pass in history to win.

The Jets came up short in 2022 too, despite a flurry of goals from Greg Zuerlein, after Justin Jefferson's fourth-quarter touchdown helped put enough daylight between the two.

That recent form is in sharp contrast to their prior relationship, when the Vikings have often been on the losing end of the scorelines.

Between 1970 and 2010, they recorded only one win against the Jets, coming way back in their second-ever game, scratching out a 29-21 victory in 1975.

It came as the Vikings reached the Divisional Playoffs, where a loss to the Dallas Cowboys effectively ended their regular contention at the top end of the competition.
