The state of the New England Patriots quarterback room has become a bit clearer following the acquisition of Matt Corral from the Carolina Panthers as reported by NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.
For a moment it seemed like there would be no back-up for Mac Jones following the departure of Malik Cunnigham and Bailey Zappe's move to the practice squad.
Now Corral, who was a third round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, has joined the Patriots after being waived by the Panthers and he will hoping to continue his development after missing the entire 2022 season as a result of a Lisfranc injury.
The arrival of Corral is a bit of surprise considering the Patriots often opt for a veteran to back-up their starting quarterback, but this time around they have opted to bring in an untested name with the aim of providing some competition for Jones.
