This week has seen a pair of Detroit Lions coordinators land top jobs, with Aaron Glenn heading to the New York Jets and Ben Johnson joining the Chicago Bears.
These hires came after Mike Vrabel took the reigns at the New England Patriots, which leaves the Dallas Cowboys, Jacksonville Jaguars, Las Vegas Raiders and New Orleans Saints as the four remaining franchises with an opening.
The Saints dismissed Dennis Allen back in November after suffering a seventh consecutive defeat of the season with Darren Rizzi then going 3-5 as an interim head coach.
Snowstorms in New Orleans have delayed the team’s progress in appointing their new coach, but they now have a number of interviews lined up, with former Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy, the most eye-catching name on their current shortlist.
McCarthy, who led the Green Bay Packers to victory in Super Bowl XLV, saw his five-year stint in charge of the Cowboys end last week following a 7-10 campaign, but according to Adam Schefter of ESPN, he will now interview with the team next week.
The Saints, who limped to a 5-12 record last season to finish at the bottom of the NFC South, are also set to speak to Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver and Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka.
Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady and Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, who are both preparing for their respective AFC and NFC Championship Games this weekend, are also expected to be interviewed next week.
