For the 125th time, two of the biggest names in football square off with plenty of pride on the line.

The New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys will pick up their long-running NFL rivalry once more when they meet in a Week 4 clash at MetLife Stadium.

The NFC East heavyweights occupy the bottom two spots in the division, but will still have hopes they can turn their slow starts around with a win at the expense of the other.

It has been more than a decade since the Giants last won the Super Bowl, and almost three since the Cowboys did, but both will have eyes on making Super Bowl LIX still.

Here's everything you need to know about the head-to-head record between the Giants and the Cowboys.

Major Giants vs. Cowboys matchups

Having met on 124 occasions before, several games between the Giants and the Cowboys have delivered pivotal moments in their rivalry.

With at least two clashes per season, they have met frequently and been at odds almost as often too - but among the pair, one team has a clear advantage.

The Cowboys have been the dominant side in their relationship, and have lost only twice in the last 15 meetings between the pair in the NFC East division.

It marks an impressive turnaround after the Giants generally held court during the late noughties, including a 21-17 win in their only postseason encounter, in 2008.

Brandon Jacobs scored the winning TD as New York downed Dallas in the divisional playoffs, on their way to claiming Super Bowl XLII against the New England Patriots.

Since then however, it has mostly been one-way traffic, with the Cowboys handing a blank to their rivals last season in a 40-0 thrashing, before another 49-17 battering.

Dallas have been a steady postseason presence over the past few years, but have only gone beyond the wild card round once, during the 2022-23 playoffs.

The last win the Giants recorded was a narrow 23-19 victory in 2021, with their prior triumph coming all the way back in 2016.

It's been a long time between drinks breaks for New York, and they'll hope they can put their hoodoo to rest when they welcome Dallas this time around.
