The New York Jets have become the first of four NFL teams to unveil new uniforms for the 2024 season.
Dubbed their ‘Legacy Collection’ uniforms, the Jets have looked to the 1980s for inspiration as the look from their famed ‘New York Sack Exchange’ era has been replicated.
The changes are fairly subtle as there is no deviation from the team’s traditional colour scheme, but the double-stripe shoulders and single-strip pants hark back to what the team wore between 1979 and 1989.
The team’s logo has also been ‘refreshed’, with Jets president Hymie Elhai explaining the changes.
"Recreating our uniforms, as well as developing a modernized look for the organization signifies our commitment to progress, remaining innovative, and delivering excellence to our players and fans," Elhai told the team’s website.
"Elevating the New York Jets identity with a refreshed uniform embodies the unity, and a timeless sense of the Sack Exchange era, while empowering every player and generations of fans to stand out and stay true to our team's heritage."
The Jets are one of four teams producing new uniforms for the 2024 season, with the Detroit Lions, Denver Broncos and Houston Texans all set to unveil their new threads before next week’s NFL Draft.
