NFL Fantasy Football: Top quarterbacks, running backs and wide receivers to target on waivers for Week 9

NFL Fantasy Football: Top quarterbacks, running backs and wide receivers to target on waivers for Week 9DAZN

The Pittsburgh Steelers and San Francisco 49ers have byes this week, but there are plenty of enticing options to look out for on the fantasy football waiver wires for Week 9.

Here, DAZN takes a look at a few of them.

Quarterbacks

Matthew Stafford

After a 1-4 start, Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams are bubbling at the right time. Last week, with the return of wideouts Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua, the veteran quarterback rang up 279 yards and four touchdowns in a 30-20 home win over the Minnesota Vikings.

That makes him a key grab off the fantasy football waiver wire heading into Week 9 on the road against the Seattle Seahawks, who are coming off a 31-10 blowout home loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 8.

Get Stafford and let’s see what he can do against the Seahawks’ secondary.

Bo Nix

The Denver Broncos have a couple of tough matchups on deck, visiting the high-octane Baltimore Ravens in Week 9 and the defending back-to-back Super Bowl champions Kansas City Chiefs the week after that.

Still, Bo Nix is a quarterback to target if you’re running thin in the pocket or your QB is on a bye.

Last weekend, the first-round pick aired it out for 284 yards and three touchdowns in the Denver Broncos’ 28-14 stomping of the Carolina Panthers.

Jameis Winston

The Baltimore Ravens had their five-game winning streak snapped last week as a result of the Cleveland Browns’ 29-24 upset win over the AFC powerhouse. And Jameis Winston was a big reason why as he threw the ball for 334 yards and three TDs.

If you’re low on options, why not take a flyer on Winston as the Browns host the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday?

Running backs

Isaac Guerendo

I’ve told you about Isaac Guerendo and his big-play potential before.

If he’s available on the waiver wire in your league, snatch the running back up. He’s fresh off rushing for 85 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries to help lead the San Francisco 49ers over the Dallas Cowboys, 30-24.

Tyler Allgeier

The Atlanta Falcons’ rusher could be a look, especially considering their Week 9 opponents, the Dallas Cowboys, are sputtering.

Allgeier had 12 carries, pointing to another favorable workload against the Cowboys.

Dalvin Cook

With the Dallas Cowboys sliding, it might not be a bad idea to take a flyer on Cook who could very well get more touches out the backfield, while also receptions that make him a dual threat.

Wide receivers

Cedric Tillman

There’s got to be a long string of requests on the waiver wire line for Tillman after he hauled in seven catches for 99 yards and two touchdowns to help power the Cleveland Browns to an upset of the Baltimore Ravens in Week 8. Still, try to acquire him if you can.

With Jameis Winston and Tillman showing chemistry in that game, who’s to say they can’t keep it rolling against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 9?

Josh Downs

Even in an Indianapolis Colts’ loss in Week 8, Downs had an excellent game with four catches for 109 yards and a touchdown.

I’ve recommended him as a grab off the waivers before and I’m doing it again — even as the Colts head on the road to challenge the rugged Minnesota Vikings.

Jalen McMillan

HIs four receptions only netted him 35 yards last week but with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' wide receiver corps hurt, McMillan could very well see an increase in targets and production this week against the defending back-to-back Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.
