After a thrilling weekend of NFL Divisional Round action, only four teams remain in the hunt for the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
In the NFC, the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders will do battle in an all-NFC East Championship Game on Sunday, while over in the AFC, the Buffalo Bills are tasked with ending the Kansas City Chiefs’ threepeat quest.
With four teams left, it means there are just four possible Super Bowl LIX matchups remaining for next month’s New Orleans showdown. But which would provide us with the most fireworks? DAZN News ranks the potential options.
4. Kansas City Chiefs vs Philadelphia Eagles
According to the bookmakers, this is the line-up we’re most likely to see, as both of next weekend’s home teams will be favourites to get the job done in the Championship games.
This would be a rematch of Super Bowl LVII and while the Chiefs’ 38-35 win over the Eagles was an exciting game, it’s hard not to be drawn to something new.
That said, even number four on our list would have plenty going for it both in terms of gameplay and narrative. Seeing Saquon Barkley up against Steve Spagnuolo’s impressive defence would be fascinating, while the Chiefs getting the chance to bookend their threepeat against the team they beat two years ago would be another storyline to watch.
3. Buffalo Bills vs Washington Commanders
It’s been more than 30 years since either Buffalo or Washington have appeared in the big game and this would be a rematch of Super Bowl XXVI in which Mark Rypien condemned the Bills to their second of four straight Super Bowl defeats.
This game could have shootout potential all over it, as Daniels’ performance against the Lions was his latest example of being able to raise his game and put points on the board when needed.
The Bills swatted aside the Commanders 37-3 in September 2023, which serves as a telling reminder of just how impressive a job Dan Quinn has done this year.
2. Kansas City Chiefs vs Washington Commanders
While it’s fair to say that the Chiefs are unlikely to have too many neutrals on their side (success breeds contempt and all that), watching Patrick Mahomes and company go for a historic third straight Super Bowl against a young, fearless Commanders side led by rookie phenom Jayden Daniels is a mouthwatering proposition.
A rookie quarterback has never started a Super Bowl, with just five first-year signal-callers having started in the Championship Game, so if Daniels is able to get past the Eagles, history would await him.
1. Buffalo Bills vs Philadelphia Eagles
This one could be a lot of fun. Josh Allen going up against Vic Fangio’s defense would be a fascinating clash, while on the other side of the ball, Jalen Hurts is another thrilling dual-threat QB and also has Saquon Barkley fresh off one of the best-ever running back seasons in recent memory beside him.
The two teams met in 2023, with the Eagles edging a 37-34 overtime thriller and it’s not a stretch to imagine the two sides combining for 70+ points again if they meet in New Orleans.
