A pair of 1-1 teams face off in primetime as the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns meet on "Thursday Night Football."
Both teams are coming off narrow losses in Week 2. The Steelers, in the midst of a new era as Mitch Trubisky has taken over the starting quarterback job from recently retired Ben Roethlisberger, were beaten 17-14 at home by the Patriots last weekend while the Browns lost by a single point to the visiting Jets, 31-30.
On Thursday, the teams will renew their longstanding rivalry, each with visions of getting back to winning ways and taking over top spot in the AFC North.
For Trubisky, the recipe for success is as simple as getting the ball to his receivers more often.
“I’ve just got to get these playmakers the football,” Trubisky said. “Whatever we’re out there running, I’ve just got to get them the ball. It really comes down to me making better decisions, being aggressive and putting ourselves in that position.”
Trubisky's opposite number, Browns QB Jacoby Brissett, says his team will be ready for the challenge presented by the visitors, and hopes his team will revel in the spotlight of a Thursday night game.
"I know it goes back a lot of years," Brisset said of the Steelers-Browns rivalry. "Always a tough opponent year in and year out. Good team and good coaches. The tradition is rich. A divisional game on Thursday Night Football, if that does not wake you up, then something is wrong with you."
