Four-time Super Bowl winner Rob Gronkowski believes his former team, the New England Patriots, will beat reigning Super Bowl champions Kansas City Chiefs this weekend.

The 34-year-old former tight end's prediction would not have been particularly bold only a few seasons ago, but this season the Patriots have the second worst record in the NFL at 3-10.

By their incredibly high standards, the Chiefs are not having an overwhelmingly good season, but they still sit top of the AFC West at 8-5 on the season.

Even so, Gronkowski - who won three of his four rings with the Patriots - believes New England will come out on top at Gillette Stadium this weekend.

Speaking on the Up & Adams Show, Gronkowski said: "I am truly expecting the New England Patriots to put up some serious points against the Kansas City Chiefs.

"Well, 20 points which is serious for the Patriots, and I expect them to beat the Chiefs this weekend.

"I feel like coach [Bill] Belichick has the Chiefs' numbers. How many times did I play them and coach Belichick developed an unbelievable game plan?

"If they do beat the Chiefs this weekend it will be a blueprint on how to beat them through coaching."
