The playoff-bound teams clash tonight.

The San Francisco 49ers are atop the NFC standings and will close their regular season tonight against the Los Angeles Rams.

With their spot in the postseason well in hand, the 49ers plan on making some changes against the Rams. Head coach Kyle Shanahan has confirmed that quarterback Brock Purdy will sit, with Sam Darnold taking the snaps in his place.

But Shanahan will be performing a tricky balancing act with resting other key players, as he'll be wary of rust setting in ahead of the postseason but also acknowledges the benefits a week off could bring to his team.

"You work hard to get an off week," Shanahan said. "I think an off week helps a lot of people, especially if you handle it the right way.

"This time of year, it allows guys to get a little fresher. But what you don't want is two off weeks. No one gets two bye weeks.

"We earned ours next week, we just didn't know we were going to do it already. So we've got to make sure we get something out of this week."

Here's everything you need to know ahead of 49ers vs. Rams.
