No Christian McCaffrey, no problem.
In his first career start, Jordan Mason rushed for 147 yards and a touchdown on 28 carries to lead the San Francisco 49ers to a 32-19 home win over the New York Jets at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California on Monday Night Football.
The 25-year-old running back's career-high in the place for McCaffrey (inactive with calf injury) played spoiler to Aaron Rodgers' return to the field as the four-time NFL MVP completed 13-of-21 passes for 167 yards and a touchdown, while also throwing one interception in the Jets' loss.
The defending NFC champion 49ers had way too much firepower for the Jets and it showed as they produced eight consecutive scoring drives to put the game well out of reach, highlighted by Mason's unexpected fireworks and a perfect showing from kicker Jake Moody who went 6-for-6 in field goals.
Deebo Samuel also had a rushing touchdown for the 49ers (1-0) who led by as many as 19 before cruising to victory.
Here are key plays and highlights across the entire game.
