Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf has been ruled out of their Week 7 game against the Arizona Cardinals.
As a result the 25-year-old misses the first game of his NFL career in his fifth season as a professional.
Metcalf had been questionable all week in the build up to Sunday's game with both a hip and rib injury.
The wide receiver has been dealing with the rib injury since Week 2, so it appears the hip injury sustained in Week 6 is the biggest cause for him being inactive.
In Metcalf's absence veteran Tyler Lockett and rookie Jaxon Smith-Njigba should see increased volume.
Smith-Njigba had the best game of his NFL career in Week 6, and with Metcalf now sidelined could be in line for a breakout game.
There is no indication that Metcalf will miss multiple weeks, so he could return for the Seahawks' Week 8 match against the Cleveland Browns.
