With the big game just ten days away, the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles are stepping up their preparations for Super Bowl LIX

The Chiefs will be chasing history as they seek to become the first team in NFL history to win three consecutive Super Bowls, while the Eagles are searching for their second title and also seeking revenge for their Super Bowl LVII defeat to Patrick Mahomes and company two years ago.

The trip to New Orleans comes at the end of a gruelling season for both teams, who get to enjoy a two-week break between their respective Championship game victories and the showpiece encounter on February 9.

Both teams will be hoping that this fortnight off will ensure that they can go into the Super Bowl rested and recuperated, as those players carrying injuries look to take full advantage of the break.

The Chiefs and Eagles have now both released their first injury reports ahead of the Super Bowl, giving an indication of the players who could be doubts next weekend. DANZ News takes a look at each list.

Philadelphia Eagles

While the Eagles did not practice on Wednesday, rules dictate that they have to submit an estimated injury list of which players would likely have missed out. Their list was as follows:

Did not participate:

  • Saquon Barkley RB (Rest)
  • A.J. Brown WR (Rest)
  • Landon Dickerson G (Knee)
  • Kenneth Gainwell RB (Concussion/Knee)
  • Dallas Goedert TE (Rest/Ankle)
  • Cam Jurgens C (Back)
  • Moro Ojomo DT (Shoulder)
  • DeVonta Smith WR (Hamstring)
  • Brett Toth OL (Knee)

Limited Participation

  • Britain Covey WR (Neck)

While there are some big names on this list, the fact that Saquon Barkley and A.J. Brown are included merely for rest means Eagles fans will not be concerned.

The main injuries to keep an eye on before the game are Kenneth Gainwell, as concussions can be difficult to predict and Landon Dickerson’s knee.

Kansas City Chiefs

Just five players were named on the Chiefs injury list:

Full practice:

  • Bryan Cook S (Quad)
  • Kareem Hunt RB (Quad)
  • Patrick Mahomes QB (Ankle)
  • Jawaan Taylor T (Knee)
  • Jaylen Watson CB (Ankle)

Patrick Mahomes’ name obviously jumps out, but he was also on the injury list for the AFC Championship game win over the Bills and did not look any the worse for wear.

With all five players listed as being able to practice in full, the Chiefs will be hoping to be at full strength for next weekend’s showdown.
