With the big game just five days away, preparations for Super Bowl LVIII are stepping up.
The players are in Las Vegas, practice sessions are underway and the coaching staff are working tirelessly on their game plans, with a place in NFL folklore up for grabs before the week is out.
But with this being the end of a gruelling NFL season, there will be question marks over several players who are facing a race against time to be fit for the biggest game of their lives.
Here is a look at the current injury status for both teams.
Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs have a number of injury worries that Andy Reid and his staff will be sweating over between now and Sunday evening.
Defensive tackle Chris Jones did not practice last week as he deals with a quad injury, but expects to play after being able to rest up during the fortnight break between games.
Charles Omenihu tore his ACL in the win over the Ravens and the defensive end will not face his former team in the Super Bowl. Omenihu was a key part of the Chiefs’ effective defence this year, registering seven sacks despite missing the first six games of the season through suspension.
While Omenihu will miss out, the Chiefs will be hoping All Pro guard Joe Thuney will be able to overcome a pectoral injury. He has not practised all week and said he is taking it ‘day by day’ on Monday.
Linebacker Willie Gay also sat out the Ravens win with a neck injury, but has practised last week and is expected to play.
The Chiefs will also be hoping to welcome back Jerick McKinnon after he was reactivated off injured reserve with a groin issue. Fellow running back Isiah Pacheco has been limited in practice with a toe and ankle injury, but is also expected to play.
Then there is the somewhat bizarre case of Kadarius Toney, who claimed that he was not actually injured, despite being out since Week 15, listed as having ankle and hip injuries. Reid confirmed last week that the wide receiver has been injured, but is expected to return and has travelled to Vegas with the team.
San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers have a much better injury situation than their opponents this weekend.
Defensive tackle Kalia Davis is listed as questionable after a recent ankle problem and while a host of players - including the likes of George Kittle, Trent Williams and Arik Armstead - did miss practice last week, it is believed all should play on Sunday.
