The NFL star believes a permanent London team will soon be on the way.

NFL superstar Travis Kelce has said that the only team he would leave the Kansas City Chiefs for would be a new London franchise.

The NFL have been playing regular games in London since 2007, which has led to near-constant speculation that the league could look to install a full-time team in the UK at some point in the future.

With three more games scheduled to be played in the English capital this season, the Kelce brothers addressed the chances of the NFL expanding internationally on their New Heights podcast, with Travis fully supportive of the idea.

Asked by a listener if he would play for a team in London, Travis did not hesitate to back the idea.

“Yes, 100 per cent,” he said. “I’m waiting for that team (in London), to play for another team other than the Chiefs. That’s the only situation if I get to play abroad.”

His brother Jason then asked him how long it would be until we see a team in London.

“Less than ten years,” Travis added. “I don’t know for a fact it’s going to be London, but I think the NFL will go abroad.”

Jason was also confident that London would be the first port of call for any permanent NFL overseas expansion.

“I think if there’s an NFL team, the first city it’s coming to is London, I’ll go on record for that,” the former Philadelphia Eagles centre said.

“There’s the most amount of fans here, there’s the biggest appetite in London, it’s a major market. The only other cities where it would also be in, I know Germany has a lot of NFL fans, so they’d probably be a German team, assuming Munich or Berlin, but I think London’s getting the first one if it ever happens. It’s also the closest to the states.”

Travis has played once in London, pulling in six catches and scoring one touchdown when the Chiefs beat the Detriot Lions 45-10 at Wembley Stadium in 2015, a venue he and his brother returned to last month when they attended Taylor Swift’s ‘The Eras Tour’. That trip also saw Travis meet members of the Royal family alongside his partner Swift, with the brothers recapping their visit on the latest edition of their podcast.
